Wimps, maybe. Bandwagon, no. During the Zook years, we still filled it up pretty solid. Thanks for the insults though. Try again...

Also there was nothing else to do. Games weren't televised -- other games weren't televised, so if you wanted to see football, you went to the game. AC wasn't a staple in most houses, so uncomfortable heat wasn't quite as uncomfortable.

They weren't necessarily tougher. They may have been much more bored.

I have not read an article by him in a long time. Does he write anything worth reading anymore?

No question the rival and the time have something to do with it, but the bigger long term issues are:

    1) the economy, if you compare leisure spending (and going to a college football game is leisure spending) anywhere in the country now versus 2005-2007, its lower. We were in a huge bubble in those years, esp, in Florida which is so real estate dependent.

    2) Over the last 10 years UF has consistently raised ticket prices and reduced the number of cheaper student tickets available.

You raise prices on a leisure product in a slowing economy you will see lower demand, didn't you guys take Denslow's Econ 101?

Being at the game was the event and all good Gators made it there. There wasn't a lot of whining and excuse making.

They weren't addicted to seeing football, they were addicted to supporting the Gators.

Let's face it, hot is hot.

I'll admit, times are different. But the real old-timer Gators I know are always at these games and truth be known probably shouldn't be.
