Making me hungry to go check out Champion's in St Pete.
I live in Maitland and yep, I know that I am biased, but whistle is right...I know John Rivers and his product and the man himself are extraordinary. The beans are dessert and the Burnt Ends are incredible! Never tried Jack's, but I'll make it point to get by there.
Crazy...it's almost as if people can have different opinions on the best BBQ...
Hence why I gave mine. This is a message board, presumably where people post opinions...or maybe you prefer the kinds of conversations where there are no differing opinions, but what's the point?
I simply stated that one should try Cecil's before proclaiming 4 Rivers the best. Is there an issue?
KC BBQ on JAX westside
Jim and Nicks North of Destin not bad.
For BBQ turkey the original Bono's on Beach blvd
Crowning 4 Rivers the best bbq in FL is like saying you have the nicest
used mini van on a used car lot.
I 2nd Jim n Nicks in Destin. Used to drive an hour each way for it all the time.
Been to Jim n Nick's in Birmingham as well as Charleston. Nothing special.
Bono's? Comparable to Sonny's at best.
In my opinion, 4 Rivers is much better than either of those two joints.
I couldn't advise of a bbq place around ft. myers, thats why I make my own. Smoked Brisket, Chicken, Ribs, baby backs, boston butt, and smoked turkey. Man I'm getting hungry.
Food preferences are pretty subjective to begin with and BBQ is no exception, maybe even more so..........
Champion's gets my vote for the best that I have been to in quite a while. Its run by Fred Fleming's step-son Joey. Fred passed away last season. Great place to go before a Rays game.
Have eaten at Cecils for many many years, and I like it. But IMO 4 Rivers brisket blows Cecils away, not even close.
I prefer Cecils ribs though, and I like Cecils sides almost as much. Plus Cecils has free ice cream.
4 Rivers' brisket is about the closest in quality to anything I have had in Texas. But, really, brisket in Texas is a whole other conversation.
Is Pres and Ed's still there? Loved it many moons ago.
Ate at 4Rivers this past weekend. GREAT MEAL! Had the burnt ends, texas sausage, and pulled pork sandwich between the wife and I. All delicious. Sides were good too as well as some things we got from the sweet shop.
Peebles in Auburndale is my pick for best bbq.
Agree with jjh re: Carolina Smokehouse in Cashiers.
Amen, hard to beat Carolina Smokehouse - about the only complaint is how busy they are as soon as they open
