Come to Gainesville. 4 Rivers opens at Archer and 35th next week just in time for your tailgate order for the Toledo game. To save you time here is the number to place your order 855-368-7748. http://4rsmokehouse.com/ You gotta try the Brisket. Ask for a mixture of meat from the flat and the point! :santa:

To be fair, I haven't been to every BBQ restaurant in the state... Best one I've been too though, and certainly best in Orlando. You're right about the baked beans, I have them for dessert.

4 Rivers is better than anything in Gainesville currently ... but best in the state? That would have to be Jack's in Minneola.

Another place that has probably flown under a lot of radars is Porkie's in Apopka. That's serious barbecue. Akins in Bell would rank in my top five in Florida as well.

Yea, that would be an improvement for Gainesville and their Bbeans are the best. For best barbecue tho, my vote goes to Yellow Dog Eats in Gotha.

if you order the BBQ Brisket you need to ask for it to be a tad fatty or it will be dry most of the time- for a BBQ place it has a damned good cuban too

Rocky sold Backyard BBQ years ago. I haven't eaten there in years, but I noticed the take-out location closed.

it is still good but definitely dropped a notch or 2 when the new owners took over, and I hear from the current staff that most of them are not happy and looking while they work there

Porkie's is very good, great sides and a strong smoked ribeye.

I would give the nod to 4 Rivers for best brisket in state, rarely dry and a great rub.

Jacks is on its third owner I believe. Still has the same quality. 4 Rivers is about a minute away from me, but I drive to Jacks about as much as I eat at 4R.

Can sit at Jacks where not much has changed and remember eating with family there decades ago.

sadly the Breakfast Nook is no longer in Gainesville. Had the best BBQ in town when I was at UF in early '80's.

it was a little restaurant near Shands. had decent breakfast. But the best stuff was their BBQ--beef, pork, chicken. And their two BBQ sauces(one hot, one reg) were really good. Hot was in red plastic picnic ketchup type bottles and regular was in yellow plastic picnic type mustard bottles.

It was a plain old hole in the wall restaurant that had just a few tables. But oh was the BBQ great. One of the criteria for a quality student party is that the party had Breakfast Nook cater BBQ to the party

Uhh, best in Orlando? Man I don't understand the hype for this place. It's pretty good but Cecil's on South Orange blows it away. You need to eat at more BBQ places in Orlando before you proclaim 4 Rivers the best. Try Cecil's...
