The media and football community once again don't believe we have the nuts to win and compete for championships (SEC & BCS). We will be underestimated in each game until our play convinces them otherwise. Believe it or not players on opposing teams will listen to this misinformation and that works to the Gators advantage. As a result it will give us a motivational edge over those that take us lightly. We will win and surprise a whole lot of doubters!

It's great news, not the best news of the day, but great.

I don't put much stake in the polls until later in the season if at all. What happens when we're 5-0, ESPN lauds us as world beaters and Drisk is a Heisman candidate? Are we then unmotivated and teams fear us because of the media?

It means the Gators won't get the hype like the favorites like the Buckeyes & their alum Herbie. All the more unreal expectations for those above us in the polls.

    Nuts, stones, gonads.
Sure hope we grow a pair and bury the Canes.
A lot of reputations are on the line this Saturday.

IMO, we won't gain that respect this year either. Even heading into this year, the 'experts' were saying that Florida was as 'odd' an 11-2 last year as they can remember. Almost as if they're perplexed how we won that many games. If they can't look retrospectively at a season/team and see what our strengths were, what makes us think they'll look into the future this year and see the potential? It's just the 'New Normal' as PD puts it. Just win.

We will hopefully play 5 of the teams in front of us, and if we play the 5th (Bama), that means we will have beaten 4 of them. I think that will take care of any issues related to our position in the polls by the end of the season

We have to keep improving every week! Ratings don't matter this early in the season as long as you can play, and beat, the other ranked teams on your schedule. Our defense will continue to get better and better. Driskel looks better but his receivers need to step up and stop dropping perfect passes. Beat the Canes...... then start running the SEC table. This will be a big test as will the game at LSU. If we pass those tests, then we can start talking about winning championships!

We were ranked as high as #3 last year even though that offense was less effective than it looks like this year's will be. We were ranked that high because teams ahead of us were losing and we weren't (until UGa). Same thing will happen this year if we keep winning.

In business, I tell my agents to stop worrying about someone else's W-2 or 1099. Just worry about yourself and you will make 6 figures this year! Gators need to worry about their own schedule because you are only as good as your last win.... period!

So, Georgia loses and jumps us in the polls and that's a good thing? What do you think will happen if we lose a close game? Will we get that same consideration UGA got?

The AP is full of $h!t.

Savage is dead on - the longer we fly under the radar the better.

For those who whine that we don't get the respect we are due - win your bowl game and then we'll have that conversation.

Until then - I'm a very happy camper we are below the radar.

Savage's radar must be broken, because everyone knows who we are and what we're up to.

And the reason I feel that being higher ranked is good for us is because if we slip-up and lose a close game we're more likely to stay higher in the polls than if we get disrespected from the beginning and then lose a game.

It's all about perception and respect.

So *my* premise is..........let's NOT lose a game.

    Just win baby.

And the polls can go to Hades....:joecool:

    You know you're right.

Let me re-phrase...why should we get respect from only winning one game - against Toledo?
