Green Flash West Coast IPA tonight. It's tasty!
$4.99 up here. Had one last night. Racer 5 and Lagunitas Hop Stoopid are usually the cheapest IIPAs in the bomber. Maximus is the cheapest in the six pack at $10.99, though the Jewel near my home briefly had Double Dog for $9.99. It's back up to $11.99 now, still a good deal. That stuff is intense, 11.5% abv.
Had a Racer 5 at a beer house in Old San Juan last weekend. Not bad.
Do you get heavy seas up there? If so look for the loose cannon. I think you'll like it, a lil cheaper than Maximus.
I finish out the new bear republics we got in. I'd say red rocket>racer 5>hop rod rye.
Racer 5 is my favorite IPA.
Had Gulden Draak last night at Yard House. 10.5% had three with dinner. woo wee!
West Coast IPA in celebration. Go Gators!
My oldest son is in from Chicago this weekend. Just before the game we enjoyed a Jefferson Stout. We the went down to my local growler store and purchased two 64 oz Growlers. One is/was Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. The other was/is a Maple Oakes Ale.. We are enjoying the buzz now!
Spent most of yesterday at an Aikido seminar. I bolted after the third of five one-hour long sessions so I could catch at least half of the Gator game. Got to Sulley's House, the local Gator club HQ just as the second half was starting. Had no idea what the score was, so I was nervous. It's safe to say I was pretty thirsty too. The place has an excellent selection of draft handles on the first floor. I usually start with something lower gravity, but I decided on a pint of Lagunitas Little Sumpin' since that's what I was drinking the last two games and the bartender still remembers me, and I can sort of order it in sign language (It's loud as hell there). Took my first long, slow sip just as the Gator coverage returned, showing the score at 21-6. I have to say that was the most satisfying moment of beer drinking in a very long time.
The Gators are now 3-0 when I drink Little Sumpin', and 0-3 when I drink Victory Hop Devil (last year of course). Not going to tempt fate for the rest of this season. Little Sumpin' is for game days. Hop Devil is for any other day I feel like having one.
Oops! Just found out that my wife and I are driving to Grand Rapids next weekend to spend the weekend with friends. They are Canadians, so naturally not interested in football, so I'll have to head over to the nearest drinking establishment with large screen TVs, which just happens to be the Founders brew pub. No Lagunitas there, but plenty of other fine choices (probably one of the top five breweries in the world). The Gators will have to play a little harder to make sure I don't jinx them with my choice of game-day beer.
That beer is always on my mind. I just realized why. Got a couple of storage boxes filled with stuff to take for electronics recycling. One of them is a case box of Green Flash that I nabbed (empty) from the liquor store.
My local pub just got a keg. I'm excited.
Sometimes you have to get back to the basics. Had a can of Campbell's clam chowder for dinner. Must have been in the cupboard for several years. It sucked, but it filled me up. If I found a bottle of Bud Select, I'd find a reason to drink it. Better than throw it away.
Trying to temper my excitement here. The idea might be better than the execution, but I just opened a bomber of New Holland Farmhouse Hatter, a Belgian style IPA. Don't have a very clean palette right now. Had a cheap IPA earlier and some strong cheese, but this stuff is interesting. It's wild Belgian yeasts fighting mostly North American hops. Could use a little higher ABV, only in the 5% range, but quite busy in the mouth. Nice head. Very nice on the nose.
Drinking a bomber of Hop Stoopid tonight.
Makes me feel better about what I'm watching right now.....or, indifferent rather.
Great divide hades. Yum
Bomber of Ruination as we catch up on Walking Dead.
