Apparently the hops fade and the flavor mellows out, similar to a barley wine.

Full day of drinking including an assortment of Terrapin brew during a Pints for Prostates ride, 1809 (Berliner) and Lagunitas Little Sumpin Sumpin at a pool party. Go Gators!

Yeah. I had a 2008 120 a few months ago and it was definitely a barleywine. Still really good. The hops fade and the malts sweeten. I recommend a side by side just to see the dif

DFH 90 again. It tastes very different tonight. Must be all the milder IPAs I've had lately. It's really strong, alcohol strong.

I'm a big fan of green flash now. Very glad they made it into Jacksonville.

Just cracked open a lost coast winterbraun. Good but plenty of better browns out there.

Very difficult day. Our son is having a nervous breakdown at college. He may need to be hospitalized. I'm managing my breakdown at home with an old standby, Lagunitas Maximus. I could use some Xanax. That's nothing compared to what they're giving him.

Prayers for your son and you hang in there. He can make it through!

Enjoy the Lagunitas, but maybe not too many of them. :)

Nice. We just got Bear republic in Jacksonville today. Drinking the racer 5 right now and agree. A good balanced ipa. Having their red rocket later tonight. Supposed to be a hoppy red, my favorite.

I often forget what a perfect beer Racer 5 is, mostly because it's so reasonably priced. It's just right down the middle, perfect ABV, IBUs and just the right balance of thickness and drinkability. When the stronger IIPAs start to taste odd, the Racer 5 always gets me back to the baseline. All hail the Bear Republic.

Lagunitas Brown Sugga'. Pretty good. Very smooth and a little sweet (as they advertise). I've gotten a little tired of the hops wars.
