Haven't posted in awhile. Enjoying a HF PoS on this fine Sunday...
Enjoying a Bucs 21-0 lead. Hopefully they don't blow it!
Been scouting for some Celebration.
in the meantime...
Drinking to forget this shitty weekend...
Lucky you. Had an oaken Unearthly about a month ago. Didn't think they could improve on the original, but damn that was good.
Trying to kick or at least temper the hop addiction. Picked up a sixer of Founder's Dirty Bastard, which I assume would be considered an Imperial Scotch Ale. Aptly named, the "Dirty" part is manifested in earthy malt notes. Rather enjoyable on an almost wintery Chicago night. This is begging for some thoughtful food paring, but I'm not sure what it would be.
This might be my re-entry into the world of maltier, less hoppy beers. I had a very bad experience with some strong stout eight or nine years ago. There was nothing wrong with the beer. It was the beer drinker getting caught up in a close Florida Georgia game throwing down four 400 calorie Bourbon County Stout in the first half of the football game. Spent the second half in the ER at Loyola Medical Center with spasmodic hiccups and excruciating reflux. (There's a funny subplot there about an attractive resident and the accidental cure that I posted several years ago.) Haven't been able to drink a stout, a porter or a Scotch ale since then. It's kind of like one of those bad tequila or Southern Comfort moments early in life that your taste buds won't let you forget.
Based on what I read in this thread, I'm missing out on a lot of great beers. As the OP, I feel some responsibility to broaden my horizons. I'm sure this community gets tired of hearing me post about nothing but IPAs.
One more thing. Still haven't come up with a good food paring, but I've found the perfect music paring for this beer. Currently listening to the album Monsoon by And You Will Know us by the Trail off the Dead.
beeradvocate.com suggests food parings for beers. The more hops, the livelier you want your food, apparently.
Backwoods Bastard tonight. So glad this is finally being distributed in Florida.
Old Milwaukee tonight!!
You fall and bump your head Ray? Isn't today national stout day?
Guinness it is then!
St Arnold Oktoberfest
Keep an eye out for these bad boys, bottled yesterday in quarts for the first time.
My gf bought me a couple bottles of that and Warlock. Both are outstanding.
Its gameday. Lets get close to bowl eligible!
