Terrible? 07' Kentucky was Joker's offense, and they put up all kinds of offensive stats that year. Plus think about this, look what he had to work with. It was Kentucky, and compare their players to Florida. The playmakers, and talent at Florida far exceed what Kentucky has, and I think Joker would have a field day putting an offense together with what we got.

Champs, overreacting is what we do. Five worst seasons in the past 20 years (minimum 20 wins) of the most consistently strong AQ teams in the nation:

    School--------Worst---2d Worst--3d Worst--4th Worst--5th Worst-----Total

    Virginia Tech........7-6..........7-5...........8-5.............8-4............8-4...............38-24 (.613)
    Florida.................7-6..........7-5............8-5.............8-5...........8-5...............38-26 (.594)
    Florida State........7-6..........7-6...........7-6.............8-5............9-5...............38-28 (.576)
    Ohio State...........6-7..........6-6...........7-5.............8-4............8-4...............35-26 (.574)
    Nebraska.............5-7..........5-6...........7-7.............8-4............9-4...............34-28 (.548)
    Georgia................5-6.........5-6............6-7.............6-6............8-4...............30-29 (.508)
    Oregon................5-6..........5-6............6-5.............7-6............7-6...............30-29 (.508)
    Wisconsin............5-7..........5-6............7-6.............7-6............8-6...............32-21 (.508)
    Texas...................4-7..........5-7...........5-6.............8-5............8-5................30-30 (.500)
    USC.....................5-7...........6-6...........6-6.............6-6............6-5...............29-30 (.492)
    Miami...................5-7..........5-7............6-6.............7-6............7-6...............30-32 (.484)
    Michigan..............3-9..........5-7............7-6.............7-5............8-5...............30-32 (.484)
    Clemson..............3-8..........5-6............6-7.............6-6............6-5...............26-32 (.448)
    West Virginia.......3-8..........4-7............5-6.............7-6............7-6...............26-33 (.441)
    Tennessee..........5-7..........5-7............5-7.............5-6............6-7...............26-34 (.433)
    Kansas State.......4-7..........5-7............5-7.............5-6............6-6...............25-33 (.431)
    Oklahoma............3-8..........4-8............5-6.............6-6............7-5...............25-33 (.431)
    LSU......................3-8..........4-7............4-7.............5-6............8-5...............24-33 (.421)
    Texas A&M...........4-8..........4-8............5-6..............6-7...........6-6...............25-35 (.417)
    Notre Dame.........3-9..........5-7............5-7.............5-6............6-6...............24-35 (.407)
    Penn State..........3-9..........4-7............5-7.............5-6............7-6...............24-35 (.407)
    Georgia Tech.......1-10........5-6............5-6.............6-7............7-7...............24-36 (.400)
    Auburn................3-9..........3-8............5-7.............5-6............7-5...............23-35 (.397)
    Alabama..............3-8..........4-9............4-7.............6-7............7-6...............24-37 (.393)
    Michigan State.....4-8..........4-8............5-7.............5-7............5-6...............23-36 (.390)
    Arkansas.............4-8..........4-7............4-7.............4-7............5-7...............21-36 (.368)

With the exception of Virginia Tech, no team has won as consistently over a period of 20 years than Florida, and no one played a tougher schedule than the Gators.

This is why we have the hysteria. In the eyes of those who got used to the taste of Dom Perignon, a taste of Brut (still a decent champagne), tastes like battery acid. Never mind that there are MANY champagnes out there FAR worse than Brut (andre, Korbel and far worse than those)

I'd take 83-85. That 44-0 beatdown in Jax in 82 kinda makes that season not so good, even with Wilbur's great game against USC.

With the exception of Andre Woodson and possibly Keenan Burton and Raphael Little. Those playes were studs.

Yeah but look at the steady buildup from 1981-1985. Solid improvement every year. We simply didn't have enough firepower to slow down Herschel...

Yup Andre Woodson was a very good QB. Any word on whatever happened to him? I think if you put Will Grier in Joker's hands, and with the addition of the RB's, and WR's we have, he would create a dynamic offense. Though first thing is first, and that is Florida "HAS" to get better on the line.

BS. We're in one of the best recruiting areas in the country. There is NO excuse for us to not be a perennial national title contender. Just takes the right coaching staff that can recruit, develop, and execute.

This is true, and if memory serves, Kentucky had a good OL in those years. Grier will need a year to cultivate, however. Not many excel right out of the box.

Correct, but then again at times there are those players that actually turn out better when they're quote on quote "fed to the wolves", and quite possibly Grier could finally be that guy that starts the great QB tradition at Florida back up, and it follows along for years to come.

Yea. It would have been nice if you were in the media room and reminded him of that when he said that to help him realize the problem which apparently he still doesn't see.

I don't think our next OC is not part of our current coaching staff. I still want Baylor's OC.

Well, he could have lost to Louisiana-Monroe and UAB, as Saban did at Alabama and LSU, respectively...

Why bring in a new OC from the outside? That would be 4 OC's in 5 years. Great. Just great. Let's start all over again. That makes perfect sense. Only if you are looking for an excuse to keep WM around after another year of not winning the east. Why swap one up the middle, up the middle, pass, punt play caller for another? Oh, you want to bring in an air raid type guy. Cool. One problem. We don't have air raid type offensive skill guys now. So they would have to purge half the roster and start recruiting air raid type guys. Great, 3 more years of inept offense.

If UF has to make a change and start over, they need to implode the entire staff and start over. If you bring in a new OC and he bomb's like the last 2, which is a real distinct possibility since the last 2 hires aren't exactly stellar and lend no hope to actually getting a 3rd right, we end up firing the problem a year or 2 to late. Then you bring in a new staff and new OC and that makes 5 in 6 or 7 years. It's a vicious cycle that frankly, UF is to damn elite for. This kind of suckage is for CUSA, Sunbelt, Mac teams.

Saban will likely win title #4 in 5 years--whatever he is doing, muschamp should copy it

Agree that Will is not getting fired after this season. However, if he brings back Pease, Muschamp will be gone after 2014. UF's offense is turning inot a joke. The Nolies love pease more than we loved Jeff Bowden.
