IF WM is the coach next year, you haven't seen anything yet wrt poor attendance numbers.
Foley has really put himself in a pickle with this hire.

Sadly, I'm beginning to subscribe to your point of view. Desperately hope this is not the case...

"Everyone has been clamoring for us to stretch the field. It's obvious to me our vertical passing game has been a weakness for us. The plays won't work without o line blocking."

Exactly... for us to stretch the field on longer pass plays... the offensive line needs to block longer. And so far, that aint happenin' this year.

As a former offensive lineman, I can simply say:

I rather have a team with a great offensive line that can run block AND pass block...
than to have a fantastic running back who cannot find the holes to run through.

I rather have a fantastic offensive line than a fantastic quarterback who cannot find the time to go through his reads and has the three to four seconds to throw.

I can promise you that if our offensive line was doing its job that it would make the passing game look better and secondly, our running game would improve.

Lastly... in my opinion...it is better to have great pass blocking linemen that can also pick up blitzes, etc... than to have a great running back who cannot find the holes. Defensive teams can stack the box and shut down a running game... it is easier for a defense to focus on ONE running back.
(Does anyone remember the bowl game when Florida played Washington?
Emmitt Smith actually took himself out of the game because our offensive line could not block Washington's defensive linemen.

When you got three to four recievers going out for patterns... they are ususally one on one with a cornerback or a linebacker. Which can be a mismatch in our favor.
Spurrier did this all the time.
With one running back... you got the whole defensive line and linebackers focusing on him.

All we need are two things:

    1. Recievers that can get good seperation and a decent (but not great) quarterback that can get them the ball. (Leave the running back and the fullback in there to block anyone that gets through.)
    2. Offensive linemen that can pass block and pick up blitzes.

Don't get me wrong... I love a great running game (when its working.)
Errict Rhett's performance against Georgia in the Mud Game was an art form!
But when our offensive linemen are not getting the job done...

You guys are overreacting. Spurrier and Meyer made this program a program that will compete for championships every year. We have a bad season, right after a really good one, largely due to things Muschamp has no control over... and you guys start the dramatic "we aren't a contender every year" and "were back in the 70's/80's" posts.

We have been contenders for the BCS 2 out of the last 5 years... Stop overreacting, its really getting old.

I know one thing -- Muschamp knows more about football and how to win than anyone on this board, so if he decides to stick with Pease, I am behind him 100 percent.

To me, playcalling hasn't been great, but it is not the core of the problem, which is the depth and talent of the offensive line. If that unit doesn't improve in 2014, then no OC on the planet is going to have more success than we are now.

Let me ask, just who is a "perennial national contender"?

    Texas?
    USC?
    ND?
    Michigan?
    OSU?
    OU?

Those are normal "perennial" contenders and guess who has played or competed for more championships in the last 20 years? Guess who has more wins than most, if not all of those teams?

    Again, stop overreacting.

    a) Foley doesnt hire OCs
    b) Joker was the OC there in 07, no? That was the best UK team in like 30 years.

The same can be said regarding any HC we have ever had, including Zook.

That alone doesn't mean that Muschamp is the guy for the job. After all, we are not proposing that one of us be the next HC at UF, so the fact that Muschamp is more qualified than any of us is irrelevant. The question is whether he is the right guy for the job as opposed to other coaches. I am not sure one way or the other at this point...

I'm hoping Indiana loses every game the rest of the season and fire Kevin Wilson and then muschamp hires him as our oc. He is a brilliant offense cord.

If he loses every game left except Ga Southern.... he should be gonzo! 5-7 is a fireable offense IMO. NO bowl game when there are 5,000 bowl games now and a losing record....He will be dead man walking.

If we lose to both FSU and UGA, someone will be fired.

I think Foley will most likely approach Muschamp at the end of the season and say make a change, or you will be gone.

I believe Foley gives Muschamp another year, unless Muschamp refuses to fix the problem.

If we go 6-6, because Muschamp is too stubborn to attempt anything new, I think Foley has no other choice but to fire him.

I don't care who it is, as long as they score points. Would love to see some sort of air raid offense, but also with a good run game. Also Florida needs to get the speed back on offense. As far back as I can remember to my early days of watching (the spurrier years) the Gators have had speed all over the field from the WR, to the RB's. I think it is time to get back to that.
