It looks like the Atlantis tourney committee have ranked UF as a #3 seed and UNC as the the #2 seed. No matter, the Gators have a chance to play Georgetown, Wisconsin, and possibly UCLA/OU/UNC! It should be a good experience for the Florida team!

It looks like the seedings are the following:

    1. Wisconsin
    2. North Carolina
    3. Florida
    4. UCLA
    5. Oklahoma
    6. Georgetown
    7. Butler
    8. UAB

The championship game is played BEFORE the 7th/8th place game? Odd...

It's a crazy looking algorithm/flow chart for an 8-team tournament! However, did you notice the games played on ESPN2 & axsTV (whatever that is)?

Had UF been the #2 seed, it would have been possible to watch all three of their games on ESPN2! If you get in the losers bracket, good luck with trying to watch them - probably have to listen on the radio with Mick which isn't bad!

... and before the 5th/6th place game... But after the 3rd/4th. Anyone know any reason for this?

If you lose your first game (UF vs Georgetown), the best that you can finish is 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th. This puts some pressure on UF to win their 1st game - kind of like a 7/10 or 3/6 matchup in the ncaa tourney bracket!

Probably for television (i.e ESPN) reasons! No one wants to watch the consolation games but you could have one or two interesting matchups there, too.

So, if we beat the Hoya's we play the winner of Whiskey/UAB (likely Badgers)?

Cox Cable doesn't carry AXS TV. I suppose most of the Gator basketball fans in Gainesville will have to pack themselves into restaurants and bars for at least the Georgetown game. If we lose to the Hoyas, all three of our games will be relegated to AXS. Not a good situation. Wonder if Foley thought through the TV implications when they agreed to participate?

Last we played Georgetown was on a boat, right? That was hard to watch.

AXS TV appears to be the old HD Net..now owned by Mark Cuban, Ryan Seacrest and others. Channel 340 on DirecTV

This tourney is during the ThanksGiving period (Nov 26/27/28). ESPN probably has some college football games scheduled around this time, too!

I hightly doubt that seeding had anything to do with which team is playing in which spot in the bracket. It was all about angling for the best possible matchups to show on TV.

Ahhh... Didn't catch that!!! That makes more sense now. Most everyone will have that Friday off, and there's no way they want to play any games on the Saturday. Saturday is college football rivalry day!!! :D
