Lots of rain expected in Athens this weekend, based on the current forecast, it would be a major feat to get all three games in. I'm not sure if those games mean a whole lot, but I know that those teams are trying to compete for a national seed, those would be some interesting games. Technically, Arkansas is still hoping for a piece of the SEC pie as well.

Just looked at SECT time slots to see best slot for me personally so I know what to root for. AU cant get 5 or 12,, so I guess the 8-9 next best. 3 way tie for 7th w/ LSU magic coming to town,,they got this. Avoided that top 4 , staying till at least Thursday nonsense. I wouldnt lose that Tuesday play "on purpose", but Id tell starters to be at bus departure an hour late..;)

Always want to win, but sec tourney is a big yawn for most Gator fans. Bubble teams, ok.

We are so far removed from it. Most of the other teams are within an easy drive, our state’s major population centers are more south. We’d take it more seriously if we were closer, I’m guessing.

Bogey, just my two bits, but I believe we take it seriously in as much as we're pulling for whichever arms we throw out there, but not serious enough to want to put any of our pitchers in an overload situation for pitch counts or general usage. I don't think you can get around the fact that most players know this doesn't mean a whole lot (save for some of the teams that NEED an automatic bid). You compete as much as you can, but not nearly as much in the tank as you would have for a weekend against Georgia or a postseason regional.

Of all the road trips I could go on for the FLORIDA GATORS, the SEC Tournament for baseball wouldn't make my top 20 (possibly not my top 50). Maybe if I'm retired one day and my wife wants to explore the Birmingham area for all of its glory.

It's baseball, they're playing, I'll pull for 'em.

From a logistics standpoint, the tournament is a failed concept. I'd much rather see the SEC go back to a championship series where the top two teams from each division face eachother.

Speaking of divisions, I still don't see the point tho the east kicked the wests butt this year. Division winners have no playoff.

No divisions in basketball or softball who have year end tourneys, so why baseball???????

Essentially only used for scheduling, but when the closest school to you can't manage a bus ride back on a Saturday, I'm lost on what the purpose is of the division scheduling is anyway. Honestly, I'm just happy that nobody reports who is leading the Eastern Division and all that nonsense any more.

I doubt it, but I see no reason to go anywhere near bham anyway especially with a regional to drive to the following week which means a lot more.

It's actually a long way from houston and columbia also tho we could all fly if we cared. The irony to me has always been that bama regularly sucks in baseball but still hosts the tourney.

Well, let me clarify: doubt we’d take it more “seriously” as fans...but: the couple of times I attended meant fans from some of the other schools that were literally “driving by” on business that would stop in to catch a game or two, especially for their given team.... we’d likely do the same. If it wasn’t so remote to us, we’d have more fans attend. Especially for weekend games, etc. but yeah, I’m inclined to save my $$ for regionals, and this year, for Omaha, too.

Like WES said Ill watch b/c my team is playing, no matter how meaningless the games may be.

But it just seems silly, if you go deep, to do that to your pitching staff a week prior to real post season. Some of "us" just dont have enough quality pitching depth for 8 team tourneys much less 10-12. Or 4 team regionals from losers bracket for that matter,, That 11.7 only stretches so far. Although those teams usually are the 2 not playing , or gone by Wednesday,, so I guess irrelevant.

I've never been to Hoover but TV loves talking what a great place to be. My question, why Hoover? So what if the SEC offices want it there. We keep hearing about all these great new stadiums around the SEC. Why not use them to showcase the tourney? Alabama doesn't help Hoover in most years anyway.

There is a recent high correlation with SECT championships and making Omaha for UF.

    87--

You are correct--I think it's like a corporate hub for the SEC front offices--

Personally, I think each year's winner of the regular season should be awarded the SECT--that way the season's winner doesn't have to travel (incentive) and it's up for grabs every year (incentive both to host and make money to boot) creating the feeling of everybody's got a chance/voice in the SECT--

Yea, if it was a short drive, I probably would have been by now. Unfortunately the sec world seems to revolve around the Bham/Atlanta corridor.

They "managed" just fine. Went back exactly when they wanted.;)

All they did was ask,,could of said no, & would have said no if didnt agree the request made sense that weekend for both. Now I personally dont think it was a valid reason & would say no to ANY request from opponent, but they didnt ask me & apparently this was a no brainer decision by both involved, or would of never changed that close to original start time.

Do agree divisions are useless.(all sports) If going to keep them in baseball, then have ONE SEC title, the 2 Division winners playing a series for it. Preferably 3/5, but 2/3 is fine. Let other 10 play the tourney for auto bid if they need something to do.
