I'm looking to replace the furniture in my house. Okay...I'm looking to replace the furniture I lost in my divorce...but whatever. :)

So...I'm looking at a sectional. Not a huge den section. More like a big sofa with a chaise lounge sticking out of it. I have a combo living room and dining room. Should I get the chaise on the dining room side or the wall side? The wall side won't be against the wall, though. It'll be about 3 or 4 feet away so there'll be enough room for an end table and lamp or floor lamp.

Find a cute girl at IKEA make sure she knows why you need it. Even if you buy it somewhere else it's worth hearing what you need from her or any of the hot single moms/college students

The chaise on the dining side would be a good way to provide some division between the two spaces. Or, would it be nicer to have the end table and lamp on that side to add lighting between the two spaces? Is there space to add a floor lamp next to/behind the chaise on the dining side? Then you can have division and lighting.

General question, can the chaise be switched from one side to the other? Assuming you may have a different set up in another house, that would be a nice option.

Unfortunately the chaise can't be switched which is why I'm asking. When I order it it'll be that way for good. There should be room for lighting on both sides I would think.

why not just get a true sectional (basically an L shape) rather than a portion be a chaise lounge so it doesnt really matter what side is sticking out since you can easily change it?
