...average conservative. At least that's what the developer of a new app to help track your own carbon footprint has to say:

Something that comes as a shock to a lot of our users: The average person who says they care about climate change actually has a substantially worse than average footprint. Generally that’s because they tend to have a bit more money, and they tend to be people who like to think of themselves as multicultural and like to get out and see the world. Which means that they’re flying around a lot, and all that flying generally outweighs any other green lifestyle choices that they’ve made. You have a lot of people who are using reusable bags and water bottles, driving a Prius, maybe eating a bit more of a veggie friendly diet. But then they’re flying to Bali or South Africa or something once a year. They end up having a larger carbon footprint than a conservative guy who drives an SUV in the suburbs of Atlanta but doesn’t fly anywhere.

Facts > Feelings, long-term. Short-term, feelings win elections and sell products.

Well, I bus or bike about 85% of the time for commuting/work/shopping, etc. and I only travel domestically.
Perhaps many greenies are unable to update their lower cost homes with newer windows, appliances, and central A/C units....household cooling/warming is a huge chunk of the total energy consumption.....especially when you have three teenage kids.

Just look at most high profile warmists, classic case of do as I say, not as I do.

Yay! We should all just be ignorant conservative guys who ride around the suburbs they live in in their giant SUVs. No need to travel anywhere or do interesting things! That would be such a fun way to spend ones life!

It didn't say they are ignorant, nor did it say they don't travel or do interesting things...just that they don't fly much. What's wrong with that? Or are you projecting:)

Edit: It also didn't say GIANT SUV's...they do come in a variety of sizes these days. Even hybrids!!

That post says it all-sort of do like I do and not as I say. Trying to tell others the best way to live their lives and somehow because traveling is fun for you a giant SUV is wrong and not fun. Never mind the traveling the one does has a greater impact than the one for the SUV person....heck they are having fun, ecology be damned.

    Some hypocrisy knows no bounds!

My post was clear on the quotation and the source...yes, the data is from the app. Not a scientific study, but certainly an informed source. Someone interested enough in the issue to facilitate the app capability.

Irony. Tell that to Al Gore and our most traveled POTUS, and his wife (usually in a separate jet/flight) in history...

To believe these results would require acceptance that there is a statistically significant amount of people who don't care about their carbon footprint and yet are tracking their carbon footprint with an app.

I'd say that's fairly unlikely and this is easily manipulated data.

In all likelihood this guy conjured a way to drive hype for his app by letting the media do his PR for him.

the totally ree dik uh luss push by theEW's for the US to sign some agreement that would do little if anything-we put out approx 17% of the worlds CO2 emissions and in the next 10 years it will be even less but China and India will skyrocket- the US signing any type of agreement will adversely affect our economy to a huge extent

Yes, but driving to Whole Foods in their "wheat germ powered Suburus and Priuses", using reusable cloth grocery bags and pretending to care about all things green, inoculates them from investigation by the media into their absurd hypocracy.
