    In theory I don't have a problem with the death penalty and think the culprits in this case would certainly be deserving candidates. The problem comes with putting it into practice. I can't really stomach the thought of sending innocent people to death at the rate at which we currently do. IMO, with the death penalty you've got to be absolutely sure and as it is, cops lie and eyewitness testimony is fairly unreliable.

    isn't incarceration for life in a bad, dirty facility a stronger punishment than instant death?

    If you murder someone (with malice) why can't we just murder you in the same fashion? I bet there would be a lot less murders.
