    just how does that work?

bury him in some corner of the prison yard then dig him up a thousand years later?

This coward got off too easy for all that he did to these girls over 10 years. He goes to prison without ever having a trial. When I see him on tv in court before the judge, he's always looking down. In fact, the judge had to tell him to look up and speak so she could hear him because he was mumbling his words. Castro's attorney kept nudging him with his arm to look up as he kept lowering his head. What a disgusting piece of garbage.

Doubt if he lasts too long in prison. Child molesters are not too popular there.

They'll probably protect him and keep him isolated.

It is a good deal that was probably conceived with the victims in mind -- they no longer have to relive their ordeal as a public spectacle for vultures and hyenas like Nancy Grace to devour, don't have to see the guy again. He will never have a chance to hurt them or anyone else again, and with less average taxpayer expense than executing him 15 years from now or so would take.

They should let female police officers do what they want to him.

I agree 100%. Although money is nowhere near the most important factor in a case this horrific, the numerous appeals taken in death penalty cases can cost taxpayers a million dollars or more. In addition, death sentences are not carried out [if at all] until 10 years or more after sentencing.

Finally, is it not worse, in some respects, to wake up in prison every day for the rest of your life?

Pursuing a death penalty case where a defendant is willing to plead for life without parole and saving the victims a trial is a win, every time. Forcing this plea is the only real reason to have the death penalty, IMO.

From what I have been reading Michi has it correct. This way the girls don't have to testify or see him again. Much less traumatic on them and he will spend the rest of his miserable life in jail.

I agree, but I want to pay the least amount possible to ensure that this piece of sh*t never does this again. My vote is to put him in general population.

Every big prison system has a wing full of molesters and rapists...those will be his new friends.

Actually not having a trial was terrific for the girls and their families as they have said. Spares them from reliving the ordeal.

Yes, now that I've learned that the girls and their families wanted it that way, I'm fine for him to go straight to prison. Now they don't have to go through the misery of having to discuss every little detail the last 11 years.

Exactly. I suspect that Castro will get his just deserts through some prison justice at some point.

For many years, correction officers at UCI in Raiford buried prisoners who died with time remaining on their sentence "upright" (I.e. standing). The practice was put to a halt in the early 1980s.
