She turned out to be wrong, but her instincts were correct. No traction on the story. If people weren't getting beheaded and the world seemingly coming apart at the seams, this story would have gotten a bit more notice. Also, the Rams were extremely professional with no missteps. Look, let's not be naive about it. had there been a misstep or two, certain elements would have been all over it like white on rice. As it is, we give a crap that a seventh round draft pick out of Mizzou just made the Dallas practice squad why?

Ah, so if everything had been different, then it would have been different.

Pretty much. In summary, all the agendas remain unchanged. The only thing that did not present itself was opportunity. Now the NY St. Patricks day parade is a different story. Target of opportunity.

The girls do love themselves a parade!

So what was predicted and complained about didn't happen at all, but that doesn't mean the prediction was wrong, huh? Good luck with that in Vegas.

You mean like when ESPN ran a story about his showering habits? That kind of misstep?

Like I said earlier in this thread. This was ESPN's story. This was their baby. It gave them something to talk about ad nauseum. I don't think too many people really give a crap about this story.

Agreed. I listen to my share of sports radio. Sam is a topic and a pretty major one, but that is not the angle. At least not from the hosts. However, most did slam ESPN for the shower story.

Its a pretty big deal, it's the country's #1 sport and he's at the begining of his career. Not some veteran who came out at the end or after retirement. The only way it would be bigger is if he was more of a sure-fire contributor on defense.

Yeah, but nobody is spewing bile at the Rams or even making the case that it was some kind of prejudice. In fact, quite the opposite (though that theme seems to be getting more play on conservative political radio - go figure).

Conservatism 101. Faith in search of facts.

Seems like more of a novelty than anything, if you're the first, you're going to get a lot of attention. Once there are multiple openly out players, the scrutiny won't be as focused or interesting to the media or people who consume it. I think the other factor is that Sam seems like a pretty good dude, not some violent moron in the mold of Ray Rice. I think some people just like a positive human interest story.

I think this was pretty much Tony Dungy's point (however misrepresented).
