WE'RE NOT WINNING. We're not making it to Atlanta, and on top of that, most gator fans would rather spend fall Saturdays doing something else.

So what exactly has Muschamp given us to be content with?

Can we "simply win" first? We are 8-4 over our last 12 with losses to UGA, Louisville, Miami, and LSU. Other than FSU, what's our biggest win in that stretch? 3-3 Tennessee? 3-4 Arkansas? A 5-7 Missouri team from last year? 1-5 Kentucky? Louisiana-Laf? Jacksonville St? Toledo?

why does college football need to address this? LSU game was a sellout. If fans choose to stay home and watch the game on TV, that just increases revenue for the networks which essentially benefits college football

    Good question.

Do I think it's as entertaining as an Oregon offense? No.
Do I think it's an effective way to win games? Yes... when it works.
Am I frustrated at some of the over-methodical game planning? Yes.
Do I accept that sometimes it will win and sometimes it won't? Yes. That's the same for any system, though.

Yes, I do think that at least the blueprint/theory is right at this point... but think we need big improvements in terms of play from the O-linemen, the special teams game which has been a massive source of strength in recent years but has gone down hill lately, and our offense overall. We just don't seem to have as many playmakers as we have done for a while but then we were spoilt back in 08...

I can't diagnose all ills but I do think an elite-level D will beat most teams. I also appreciate that it's not as exciting for a Spurrier-rasied fanbase to adjust to.

With some more development offensively, I think we're still a potentially high quality side. As brutal as our schedule will be in 2014 (Bama, LSU, SC, Georgia, FSU) I can't help but think that's our true measuring stick. Losing Easley hurts a great deal and Harrison too but I think we will be a lot better next year. Much depends on which Juniors go but if we can hold onto most of them, we should be a threat to win it all which is something we like to say about every season!

I said it in the game thread, but I don't think the D performed as well as it could have yesterday. As a D specialist, he's going to have more empathy with that aspect than any other so yes, I can see him saying that.

Me? I'd love to think we were more balanced but our team is quite obviously slanted right now. If that's the unit that gives us the best chance to win, so be it.

I think attendance does need to be addressed. It's declining across the board. The gameday experience is being replaced by the staying at home option.

The status quo and doing things the way they always used to be done will result in that number to continue to decline.

Nor are they joined at the hip. Take Bear Bryant's MNC teams at Alabama, and look at the average score:

    Year--------Avg Score

    1961...................27-3
    1964...................21-7
    1965...................23-10
1973...................40-10 (OK, he had one great offense MNC team)
    1978...................28-14
    1979...................32-6

Look at our great 1983-5 Gator teams:

    1983...................25-13
    1984...................31-15
    1985...................26-15

    Or 2006...............30-14
    2012...................26-14
    2013...................22-13

I think each program has a different culture associated with it. I didn't want to admit it when Muschamp was hired, but Florida fans want to see good offense. You will get more leeway during losses if you score points.

I think now that Foley's plan in the beginning was to bring in a high profile OC when he decided on Muschamp. That's why we got Weis, but the experiment completely failed. Muschamp then decided he needed to go conservative to win games with the talent on our roster.

    Don't kid yourself.
WM was hired to maximize revenues for the UAA.
If WM can sustain the current level of booster contributions and increase the number of Bull Gators while keeping the stadium packed with fans, he is our coach.
If not, he will be sitting next to Ron Zook on This Week in the SEC.

We moved to Jacksonville last winter from South Florida. This fall I found it really great to see so many everyday fans wearing blue and orange on game day throughout Jacksonville.

However, at neighborhood block party last night with many UF fans and some gator grads, no one discussed game. Zip, nil, nada. That is maybe why I posted the thread.

Because at some point the sell outs will stop as more and more fans elect to watch games on 60 inch LED screens. Schools make revenue on concessions and fewer fans means less concession money.

How about that 11-2 Carolina Gamecock club from last year? You know, the one coached by Steve Freakin' Spurrier!?! The one Muschamp's club beat 44-11. Remember?

It's maddening to hear Gator fans insist on bitching and moaning about the defensive approach of this football club. It has proven to be very effective, given the transition from Urban Meyer to Will Muschamp. This has been a very tough year injury-wise and yesterday, our injuries were felt the most. Still, we held a high-scoring offense to only 17 points and on offense we had no turnovers and were 3 out of 4 on fourth down conversions, and were, in fact, in the ball game in the final quarter. Our offense dropped the ball yesterday, primarily the offensive line, throughout the game. It's just that plain and simple. And that's going to happen.

We still control our path to Atlanta. As long as that's the case, there should be far less bitching and moaning. We've lost two road games to programs that are ranked among the best in the country. Miami is currently ranked 10th (and we all know we were a clearly superior team that gave the game away) and LSU is 6th.

    And people are freaking. Seriously???

We have a championship defense and the offense, well, it's obviously not there yet. It's clear to me that we are going to get there on offense, though. Muschamp's plan is sound. Very sound.

The problem is not diverse opinion is not welcomed here. I predicted that the Gators would lose and we would need Mizzou to beat UGA to give us any hope and called us out as an SEC East pretender. Who knew that would be bordering on being banned for the day. Murphy is playing well, and when you hold LSU to 17 points you should be able to win but this offense is not clicking and its been an issue since Muschamp arrived.

15-3 over the last 18 reg. Season games, 2 of which we should have won (uga & mia). Top 5 defense every year, top 5 recruiting class every year, bcs bowl game. So theres plenty to be content with. Some actually love watching a bad ass defense.
