I don't know about the rest of y'all, or maybe its because they just play so tough against us, but I think Tennessee is going to have a decent showing in the tournament as either a 9 or 10 seed. A lot depends on matchups obviously, but I could totally see them taking down a weaker 1 or 2 seed in the 2nd round (Committee maybe sets up a postseason rematch with Wich. State?). Maymon and Stokes make up one of the top starting front courts in the nation, and McCrae can get real hot when needed. Not good enough to beat us obviously :) but I think I like them as a bracketbuster-type, esp with all the negative talk about the SEC this year.

I do as well. They have length, a powerful inside game, play good defense and seem to be peaking at the right time.
They were very good in the first half and it took an incredible defensive effort by the Gators to pull out the W.

They're definitely a team capable of making a lot of noise.

Agreed. They're definitely peaking.... gave us all we could handle. That being said, 3/3, punks!

And yet UT has been a big choke in the dance in recent years. Very doubtful that they make the Sweet 16.

I really like their big three but if I were a Vol I'd be more than a little frustrated over their inability to close out games.

Don't think they can get far with their awful point guard play.

Well, they are #12 on KenPom. So they are vastly under valued in that respect. They do seem to not close games out well, and lose to shitty teams, but when they are playing well, they'll go toe to toe with anyone in the country. Ask Virginia.

They have 3 seniors and 2 juniors starting i think. i don't think they choke. I think they will get to 32 or 16, depends on where they are in the bracket.

If they get in a play in game, I see them advancing. Otherwise, it all depends on the matchup. I can think of 4 teams predicted in the 5/6 range that I would take over UT: UNC, SDSU, UConn, and New Mexico.

It would be criminal if the Vols don't get into the Dance. They struggled earlier but they're playing at a very high level as of late, particularly on defense. That's a legit Sweet 16 team.

Problem with UT is they can beat Wisky by 30 and not show up the next game.

But they've played really well the past 3 weeks.

Exactly. They are capable for sure, but they often fall short of expectations in March.

3-7 vs. the RPI top 50, 1-5 vs. the RPI top 25 (granted those numbers include three losses to UF). They've looked good mostly against teams that won't be in the NCAA tournament. I'd like to see them beat a few good teams before getting too excited about their chances to make a tourney run.

They have the capabilities to make it to the Sweet 16 but they have got to show they can be consistent for more than one game.

I think their fortune lies largely with how physical the officiating allows their games to be. SEC officials have allowed it to be very physical the past few weeks... a lot more than was allowed in most OOC games that I recall seeing.

If the NCAA tourney games are called tighter, can they adjust without losing too much of the aggressiveness that's helped them succeed the past few weeks?

Pegging UT is the job of an ewe, not a Gator fan.

Very true--but refs tend to swallow their whistles at the tournament and a lot of the tick-tack stuff doesn't get called. That usually favors more aggressive and physical teams like Tennessee.
