We went to see our 20 year old son at college this weekend. He was telling us about this program called Gym Jones. I have done a little looking online today about it but just wondered if anyone here knows anything about it.

Never heard of it. Can you give us a run down on it? Maybe a link?

Gymjones.com. It's the guys that trained Henry Cavill for Man of Steel. He started the prep phase about a week ago. It is a beast of a workout.

Having gone to their website Gym Jones is not so much a "program" as it is a gym with many programs. I don't know many people who have heard of them despite what must have been some great pub from Man of Steel. Heck they even created a 3 part program based on what they did with Cavill.

Back when the movie came out I read this article that covered his training and it mentions Gym Jones and Mark Twight who also was popular for the 300 workout. But he wasnt the only one that wrote plans for Cavill.

Here is the article if interested. http://chaosandpain.blogspot.com/2013/06/dude-so-and-so-got-so-fucking-jacked.html

Sites NSFW but the link is fine except for language.

Aren't they out in Utah or AZ somewhere? I think it's specialized, extreme training for some who want to push the limits. In any case, I remember a few years back reading about them in the NY Times.

Just thought I would pass this on. He has finished the prep phase and just started the main phase of the program. He has not put on any weight yet but I will have to say he is jacked.

Just wanted to pass this on about his results on this program. He is getting results from it. When we were working out last Summer he got his weight up to 185 pounds. When he started on the Mass Gain portion of this program 4 weeks ago he weighed 178. He weighed the other day at 190.

Looks like Gal Gadot is now training with Mark Twight in Israel for the part of Wonder Woman. Bet there will be a female program from them real soon.

If you don't mind me asking, by program do you mean he subscribed to http://www.gymjones.com and is following one of the programs from there? Do you know the name of the one he is doing? Thanks!

I like Gym Jones. It's 'cross fit' but with a purpose. My experience with it is within a military context. Twight has some great lessons he's learned through the years. All of their workouts have a dedicated mental component, generally chosen to be relevant to what you're training for. Military Athlete is also an excellent group.

I had my first visit to a gym that follows the Gym Jones philosophy. The work does seem the same as crossfit. The trainer said that the difference is that you don't train in order to be able to do croosfit. YEAH YEAH sale talk I know. The owner/trainer of this gym does a six week, twelve workout beginners class. The first session went 90 mins. The crossfit gyms I had looked into before finding this one had only a five 30min classes. If anyone cares I will let them know about my progress.

Hope they don't put Flavor Aid in the water coolers.
