We are a couple of hours north of Tuscaloosa so we are headed to the game when our son gets out of school this afternoon. We don't get to see the Gators play in person very often so we make sure to see them when we can.

I'm heading over in a couple of hours. I'm in Birmingham on business and have taken the afternoon off. I am going to go to the Bryant Museum when I get there and will be looking to have a few pregame drinks somewhere. Any suggestions on where to go?

Sorry, we have only been to Tuscaloosa, other than driving through a couple of times, twice since the football game in 2005. I grew up going to games in Tuscaloosa but after the way our kids were treated in 2005 they have no interest in going back unless there is a good reason. Gators in Tuscaloosa is a good reason. So anyway, I don't really know where to tell you to go pregame. We can't leave until after school so we will have a "good" meal at the game.

I just got a pleasant surprise. I ran into a guy at the Post Office and in the talk I mentioned going to the game tonight and buying our tickets when we get there. He has season tickets and they are not going to the game so he just dropped them off at my office. He would not take anything for them.

I hope you went and saw a dentist before going. Heard they just pop off when you enter state lines :p

A couple of times I have had two extra Level 1 seats for Gator games (we have 5 total) and when that happens at the last minute I have always given them away to a parent and child looking for two. They are always shocked when I say "No charge".

It is pay back for the time I was standing in line with my BIL and nephew to get tickets at the old stadium in Milwaukee for a baseball game and a guy walked up to us and gave us 3 tickets gratis in the second row just behind the Brewer's dugout.

He did let us buy him a beer eventually.

Judging from the telecast, the place was nearly empty, and completely lifeless. Sad. I like AG but I can't see him being retained, especially when his only really good player, Teleford, won't be back (although he has a big freshman who's gonna be good.)

Apologies...I had not seen this earlier.

My fiance is a Bama alum and have several friends who went there---but for the future: Houndstooth is a pretty good bar that's on the main strip; and somewhat closer to campus, there's also Galette's (the outside of the building says Campus Party Store or something like that--but everyone locally calls it Galette's. A little further down the road is Innisfree (more of an Irish pub), but always a good time.

Mental note: Push wife into bushes when Lurker is seen arriving at ODome and display child prominently.

Seriously, that's a nice gesture Lurker.
