A head coach that realizes the importance of signing more that 4 total offensive linemen in a 2 year period.

There were 6 total in 3 years... and Meyer gets credit for two of those years.

Still, Champ has to do much better than he has with the OL recruiting, and the coaching.

I got another one. When an offensive lineman gets beat by his man, don't just stand there at the line of scrimmage looking goofy. Keep retreating back to your quarterback's side and see if you can still be of any use. The beaten lineman doesn't have to chase the defender out into space; just attempt to somehow get between the QB and defender - that's what we would call protection.

Against Missouri, Murphy lost two costly fumbles from being blind-sided by a defender. The UF lineman should get back there to see if he can help recover a potential fumble or to possibly chip at a defender from sacking the QB.

In this game, Murphy didn't have the same poise to feel pressure as in the two earlier wins over Tenn. and Arkansas. At times, Murphy seemed to roll in to pressure rather than stay put when he had some line protection. But there wasn't a lot most QB's could do when the line breaks down so catastrophically.

Just my two cents....the scheme is whats killing our line. I played collegiate football many moons ago and it's quite obvious when I watch our gators. Our line is being taught to engage and sit at the line of scrimmage. Our lineman are more than capable to knock opposing teams off the line. Our lineman aren't driving them out of the play. Which brings me to my point...I think the coaches realize our backs can't win the one on one battle so they hide them behind the wall. Kelvin has the ability to do it. The coaches see it now, they didn't utilize him properly in our last game. Let the lineman play loose and the backs will see the field better.

Stop recruiting size. Start recruiting speed and size. Defensive linemen run around our offensive linemen.

Now I know why we didn't get Laremy Tunsil. He didn't want to be called Laremy Turnstile.

All we need is recruits & stability so that players can learn their position. UF has always operated with 14-15 linemen on the roster.
    • We permanently lost Tommy Jordan (injury) & Jessamen Dunker (stupidity).
    • UF had to take two transfers & a JC recruit to get back to 14.
    • Then we lost Chaz Green for the season.
    • We had Halpio injured for three games & still not recovered.
    • Tyler Moore sprained a knee & lost time.
    • Roderick Johnson tore the meniscus in his knee (same injury as Matt Jones.)
    • Octavious Jackson injured his shoulder.

In light of all that has happened, it would've been better to have had 15 or even 16 (which is rare to have) linemen on the roster. Muschamp cut it close, by one or two linemen in his second class (with the short time frame, probably nothing could be done with linemen in his first recruiting class) & it bit him in the ass.

There's not really anything we can do about this year except try to be consistent in their positions so they will get better for the remainder of their time at UF. The coaching staff is getting pressure from the "fans" & so they're trying different combinations, probably not the thing to do. The best thing for us to do endure this year & take our lumps.

We have six new lineman just this year. Three recruits, two transfers and a JUCO. There are three commits already for next year, and he's working on more from what I've read.

So I guess the coach does realize the importance of it.

AZ ... Yes, I wasn't sure who the non-schollies were but I assume they are Davis and Fuchs, correct?

Q Williams was a DE, correct? Is he transferring or in the dog house or injured (all of the above)?

If not who do you think will transfer?

Matthew Fuchs & Nick Davis (coaches son) are walk-ons, right? And Trevon Young was recruited as a tight end.

Yes those two are not on scholly

I have no info what so ever on Q Williams but when player switch from one side of the ball to the other that on the Line I just kind of expect them to leave. I certainly don't expect them to help anytime soon. Maybe he is different.

but if you look at our numbers they should be fine next year take those 3 away plus the 3 graduating and you have 11. We are going to bring in 4 or 5 so we will be right at the number we want. The question is who is going to be ready to contribute and who will be healthy.

Correct on Fuchs and Davis ... I thought Young was a 3* OT, not sure about his prospects for TE vs OL at 6'4" 272lbs ... you may be right.

You can correct by punting on first down.

I would oversign like Saban does each year and then weed out the ones that don't progress. Gives you a higher percentage of success. Saban's line has plenty of 3 stars, but they can pick up the blitz in his system. Pease system at Baylor and UF could not pick up the blitz. It is the scheme and predictable nature of his offense. You know the plays he is going to run 90 percent of the time by his formation.

f$u had a string of mediocre years under Jimbo Fisher because of their o-line. We laughed at him, the o-line coach & their turnstile. In the last year or two boosters were talking about getting Jimbo fired. In 2011 they signed eight o-linemen that averaged 4* & now they're #2 in the BCS. People need to be patient, Muschamp will get us back to the top.

I wish we would/could - I think UF & Georgia are the only two SEC schools that don't oversign.
