    No, not in my opinion.

When Obama repeatedly said that he would not allow "Detroit" to go bankrupt, he was referring to the Detroit automobile industry...

Another sloppily worded political promise, to be sure, but it is clear, to me anyway, that he was referring to the automobile industry.

    Thoughts?

The golden teleprompter must have been built by GM.

Yes, he was talking about the auto industry, despite how some conservatives are currently attempting to spin it.

Again, this is just another example of our 'genius Rhodes Scholar' president going off the TelePrompTer and making a fool of himself. It was very clumsy on his part n

You are correct. I was confusing him with our first Black President. Bill Clinton.

right, because no one ever uses 'Detroit' as a synonym for the American auto industry. Certainly not Mitt Romney in his op-ed 'Let Detroit go bankrupt ..."
    Oh, wait a minute.

Well, it was enough to fool the people of Detroit into voting for him. Maybe it wasn't so much of a 'mistake' after all...

    Truly, Obama has no shame.

Now, you have to be joking. You're claiming that Detroit wouldn't have gone for him? You don't think it went heavily for Obama in 2008, before that quote?
    I mean, damn, Dave.

No, Dave. I know, like you do, that 'Detroit' is often used as a synonym for the American auto industry. Hence Mitt's use of it, and pretty much everyone else's too. Do you know why Obama said it?
I mean, you really tried to claim that the reason Detroit voted for him was because of that one line in 2012? After it went 75 percent for him in 2008? What would you say something so absurd?

Actually, the Obamacare promise wasn't sloppily worded at all. It was clearly worded promise…and lie.

I think this is a tempest in a teapot compared to Obama stealing the 2012 election via the IRS and using taxpayer money to finance his re-election (via gifts to companies like Solyndra, run by bundlers for his campaign). I think most liberals on this thread would agree that stealing the election was a much bigger issue (that Obama should be impeached for) compared to his Detroit mis-statement. Am I right?
