Is there a reason you chose the last 25 years statistically? Sure UM years ago helps to boost that argument but the Nole schedule of the last decade is laughable. I dont disagree the schedule was tough in the mid 90's but there is a reason you have to go back that far.... I doubt any team since the BCS started has had an easier run to the NC game than FSU has this year.

How about the last ten years? They have had a cake walk and still under-performed!! Auburn will win because they are tested, unlike the criminoles who have played NO ONE ALL YEAR, and it will show!!!!!!!!

The name of this thread alone deserves an "oxymoron" button.

True , the same hits you take in the ACC hurt and bruise the same as the SEC.

Considering FSU already had an invite that they turned down, nothing indicates they would jump if offered again. Their easiest path to the NC will be from the conf they are in now. They would be fools for joining the SEC. If they can continue to dominate the ACC, they should be regulars in the playoffs. They will never dominate the SEC. Very few teams do.....

    The ACC is 3-3 now.

    Pitt beat BG.
    MYD lost (B10 team now)
    SYR beat someone.
    UNC beat someone.
LOU beat Miami (Kind of a wash actually)
and now Ole Miss has beaten GT.

Ohh yes, you had to have teams like Syracuse and Pitt join your conference to get low-end bowl wins so you all can gloat of how mighty the ACC is.

That seems pretty hard to believe. Can you support that with anything or is it just your opinion?

Does anyone know how many wins versus the top 15 the entire ACC has for this year? How many games have they played versus the top 15?

    OOC? No wins.

The only top 15 matchup this year between an ACC team and an out of conference team was Clemson-South Carolina...where Clemson lost to USC 31-17.

The other two top 15 matchups in-conference were f$u vs. scUM (who finished the season unranked) and f$u vs. Clemson (perpetually overrated).

Clemson beat UGA in their house by 3, basically home field advantage. That's the only quality win I am aware of.

Louisville is not yet in the ACC. That game is a loss for the conference.

Yeah, that's sort of like nolie fans trying to add Miami's NC's to the ACC's NC record since they joined their conference. Sorry nolies, but those Miami titles were won when the Canes were independents or in the Big East. ;)

Well, let's see and look at how many opponents with fewer than 4 losses teams faced (since 1998 through 2012):

School------------------# Opponents with <4 losses (regular season and CCGonly)

    Auburn.........................................47
    Tennessee.....................................44
    Florida..........................................43
    LSU...............................................39
    Alabama.......................................38
    USC..............................................38
    Florida State.......................37
    Michigan......................................37
    Notre Dame.................................35
    Penn State....................................35
    Nebraska......................................34
    Miami...........................................33
    Georgia.........................................32
    Oklahoma....................................31
    Texas............................................30
    Kansas State.................................30
    Ohio State....................................27
    Oregon..........................................27

    Average...............................35

Guess what? Since the BCS era, Florida is no longer #1, at least by this criteria. Being that Florida had eight seasons of fewer than 4 losses while FSU had six such seasons (in the 1990s, Florida had 8 such seasons, while FSU had ten), our relative mediocrity hurt BOTH of us. What also hurt us was the shift of power to the west, which explains why Auburn is as high as they are (SEC West plus Georgia).

But FSU is above average among the selected teams. There are many weaker teams, including many SEC teams like Arkansas, USCe, Kentucky, Vandy, Texas A&M, Mizzou, Miss State, and Ole Miss.

And Cecil counted it as such. 3 wins (Pitt, 'Cuse, UNC) and 3 losses (MD, UM, GT)

This was not your original claim. Why did you change the criterion? Not to mention the random (purposive?) range of seasons.

Yeah I'm not buying it. Fsu plays a weaker schedule by virtue of being in the ACC. Period, end of story.
