Right, God forbid we treat football games like social events.

That's why Saban is a winner and Muschamp is, well, not . . . It looks like Saban can institute more discipline on the fans at Bama than Muschamp can with his own football players (with regard to penalties and inept performances). Watching UF's offense, you almost have to wonder if they even go to practice. I know, I know, UF has injuries and can't be expected to crack the top-100 in offense.

We usually leave a bit early too. Usually around the 3:00 mark, unless it's a close game.

I would stay till the very end, but I'm always with someone who is ready to go early.

Love some of the replies, this being my favorite...

Why should the students stay for games when players dont even go to class?

You can do this when your team is good, try it when you can't move the ball and the students will send you a thank you note for not having to go.

Muschamp as young as he is and his rapid ascension up the coaching ranks isn't a winner?

Spoken with such absolute certainty at that. You must know so much about the man to make such an indictment

It will be interesting to see how the students react. Might be a bit of a backlash. Pushing the students around doesn't seem like a good idea, even at Alabama.

I'm not talking about the normal fans, but about students who are getting free tickets to come.

These students organizations often force out the real student fans who would come and cheer and stay.

As a kid I went with my older brother and his friend to a Dallas Cowboys game. The Cowboys had a comfortable lead and my brother's friend, who drove, wanted to leave 5 minutes early so we could beat the traffic.

As we were heading out of the stadium the crowd erupted. Bob Hayes, the fastest man in the world, took a screen pass and streaked 93 yds for a TD. His acceleration and leaving everyone in the dust was so incredible that for years it was one of the clips opening the weekly NFL broadcast. And we were in the parking lot. Never again have I left the game early.

I find this absolutely ludicrous. Nick Saban's comments make it even worse and shows just how much that smug little Lilliputian has lost touch with reality.

"Everybody else should have the same sort of commitment. You don't have to do the work all week, you don't have to practice, you don't have to come in at 7 in the morning and leave at 11 at night, you don't have to do any of that stuff."

Yeah right, Nicky, nobody else works their tails off except for you and your football team. Or, how about the fans work their tails off all week so that they can enjoy a little relaxation and some time away from the grind on the weekends. They brave lengthy drives, massive crowds, packed hotels and restaurants all while spending bucket-loads of hard earned money [in spite of the fact that you think you're the only one who works] to enjoy watching their college football team play on Saturdays. They should be able to come and go as they please. Maybe they need to get home early to their families, maybe they sit in traffic all week and just want to get a jump on the crowds, whatever it is, your stadium is completely sold out every week and that's all you should care about.

????? Students do not get FREE tickets. I *think* my daughter paid $115. for hers this year. Good grief. Hell, they weren't free in 1977 when I bought my first season tickets.

When I was a boy my dad got tix to the Gator Bowl through work. It was #11 UNC vs Arkansas.
It was the "fog" game in 1981. About mid 4th quarter we left with UNC up by like 3 TDs...we turned around on the Arlington side of the Matthew's Bridge when we heard Arky scored 2 late TDs...we were allowed back in the stadium in those days. My dad...and me as well...never leave games early for all eternity after that.

Amen.....I work extremely hard during M-F work week. Many times it involves leaving up to 3 hours after my contractual time has expired. Away games require much planning. Nicki has no clue what supporters go through to put our fannies in the seat. He best stick to coaching and refrain from telling fans when they can leave the stadium.
