Honestly, whatever the case is w/ this new car for Henry I'm 100% certain Bama covered their ass (guilty of anything or not). No way he goes showing off this car if he hadn't covered his ass. This ain't Bama's first rodeo (guilty or not). They're not just going to allow Henry to show this car off unless it's been cleared through the compliance office.

I know it's popular to imply they're up to no good, but honestly, IMO if they are guilty of wrong doing they are very good at covering it up...and quite frankly, I'd hope Muschamp took notes when we was coaching for Saban!

You can never be too sure about that. Alabama is the fourth most penalized team historically by the NCAA. They've been caught cheating A LOT. So therefore, they cheat A LOT.

Perhaps this car is on the up and up. But it wouldn't be a shocker if it wasn't given what school he plays for.

The insurance on that car for a kid his age is probably $4K a year by itself. Even if he only drives it lightly, he'll probably spend another $2500 in gas money, because that car is a gas hog.

Even if he got a deal like Proud_Poppa referenced, with 6 years of 0% financing, he's over $500/month in payments on that car. Add maintenance costs and that car represents $13K/year or more.

Doesn't mean he's absolutely getting illegal benefits for this, but that is an eye opening amount of money for a non-working college student to be spending on transportation.

Not for one who has parents who work and live in a typical middle class neighborhood. And, your estimates are off. Insurance for that car here in the great state of Alabama is probably $1,800 a year for a 20 year-old driver. $500 a month is nothing unusual for a car payment these days for the idiots who buy new cars. Compared to all the bling cars on campuses, it is nothing more than typical. You should see the cars our runners drive. They are college students and they have nicer cars than I do.

Hard to believe insurance is that much cheaper.

But even if it is, you're still talking over $10K/year to drive a car, with no job.

At OSU when Tressel was there they had a deal with the dealerships to get kids new cars.
How it worked is the player would take his junker into the dealership for repair and they would give him a loaner.
They would keep the loaner indefinatley

    That's actually pretty creative! :D

I would bet all kinds of things like this happen all the time with other things too.

Actually, his coverage barring no accidents or claims and no coverage lapse, Progressive would cover him for $573/month or $3,153 every 6 months.

I predict in a years time Saban will have moved on, Alabama will be looking down the barrel of the NCAA. Like day follows night, when any Alabama football program ascends to the pinnacle its almost always due to cheating and skullduggery. Same with Auburn, don't buy their one year turnaround. The whole state including their HS football should get the death penalty from playing organized sports. Anybody ever been to Auburn or Tuscaloosa...give me a break, both redneck armpits.

Loved Spur's comment about Bama's scholarships being worth more than others. Henry will be elgible for an Escalade when he leads the SEC in rushing. Richardson drove more nice rides than some auto dealers during his time at Bama.

IMO, you don't get the number one recruiting class 5 years in a row (Rivals) without some very special incentives. If anyone else had accomplished this feat, Bama and their SEC friends would have the Justice Department, CIA and FBI assisting the NCAA investigators.

He should have given him a warning for the 84mph and a $500 ticket for being a DA and driving along in the left hand lane!

Oh yeah and Nicky is a humorless turd, quite full of himself. What a crappy way to go through life. Kind of reminds me of someone else.
