not good for them. their secondary is already a bit unstable. we'll see how long he is out. plus it does not look very good for their coaching staff.

ruh-row. This could get really ugly. Saban said to just not ask him what Ha-ha did because he's not going to tell us. This could get really ugly.

It was a loan of less than $500 from a coach. If I had to guess, it was probably for rent or some other college expenses. I know it's against the rules, but I don't think it's a big deal.

A coach giving a player money is a HUGE deal.

It's pretty much what we did in the late 80s which got us hammered (again).

Now that its public, Bama is going to have to self-sanction and hope its enough for the NCAA.

I'd guess that this essentially made Dix ineligible in all the games he played in this year, meaning Bama isn't winning anything this year.

The NCAA of today hardly has the teeth that it did back in the mid-80's, so while the infractions are comparable, the sanctions (if any) will look nothing like UF was assessed with.

    I guess we'll see, eh?

I was thinking the same thing. And if it were UM, it would drag on for months and then be forgotten. At worst for the Tide I think they might get a slap on the wrist. That's about it.

If it was a large sum of money then yeah, I could see how it would be a huge deal. But for some reason less than $500 doesn't strike me as that bad, especially since it sounds like the main evidence against the coach are actually withdrawals by Clinton-Dix showing that he paid the loan back. Obviously others disagree though and that's fine.

Edit: And I know that it's had repercussions for coaches in the past, but I'm saying it shouldn't.

am i being naive, but this should be a huge story. probably happens all the time, yes. but a staffer "loaning" money, that's a different story.

i can't imagine its the first time this staffer has given away money.
