    I agree that we need to reach a middle ground and not let the extremes on each end of the political spectrum set the agenda. Much can be accomplished this way, including agreeing on a new budget.

    Btw, the position of any Republican, conservative, or even Democrat who still dimly recalls the founding of this country, toward creating a national financial institution ostensibly even more power than the Fed, centralizing people's personal finances into the loving arms of the Fed, should be "over my dead body". How is that for an opening offer?

    We already give out no bid contracts - like Halliburton's during the Iraq War.

    Considering the need to rebuild our infrastructure as well a need to increase revenue to bring down our debt, I think it would be appropriate to establish a temporary National Infrastructure Reinvestment Bank. This is an obvious way to decrease our unemployment rate and thereby create demand.
