    Someone better sedate Al Gore...

Global warming? No, actually we're cooling, claim scientists

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/en...o-actually-were-cooling-claim-scientists.html

A cold Arctic summer has led to a record increase in the ice cap, leading experts to predict a period of global cooling.

There has been a 60 per cent increase in the amount of ocean covered with ice compared to this time last year, they equivalent of almost a million square miles.

In a rebound from 2012's record low an unbroken ice sheet more than half the size of Europe already stretches from the Canadian islands to Russia's northern shores, days before the annual re-freeze is even set to begin.

The Northwest Passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific has remained blocked by pack-ice all year, forcing some ships to change their routes.

A leaked report to the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) seen by the Mail on Sunday, has led some scientists to claim that the world is heading for a period of cooling that will not end until the middle of this century.

Well there goes another part of the Leftists fake AGW arguments... about snow melt in the arctic Ocean.

I'm just waiting for them to say that AGW is all about lining certain people's pockets with huge amounts of free cash... al Gore... cough... cough.

I like you rick. Years of data regarding sea ice receding is not convincing but one -not entirely well received- newspaper article that states something else and you are convinced.

Everybody has their biases rick, but you have to admit that your standard for scientific rigor is just a tad bit lower when it says something you want to hear.

That's the norm on this board for both sides.

I've given-up on posting accredited scientific papers that conclude that AGW is not a proven science beyond reasonable doubt. Or that America alone does NOT control Global CO2 levels. However, there is reasonable belief that we do affect it in some way.

The problem is that China does far more damage then we do. We account for only 17% of the carbon emissions into the atmosphere, which means we are not going to stop rising levels of CO2 alone. And taxing American businesses, only, has no real effect on CO2 levels, and is not a solution.

It is no longer Global Warming...it is now Climate Change. If you were reading your "progressive" news articles daily, you would certainly know this.

I am definitely not arguing that the US alone can solve the world's climate issues, but I do think that many on the right are unfairly discounting the basic science.

When referring to temperature, it is appropriate to use the term global warming. It is just that the Earth's climate has more factors than just temperature.

You could be right about that, who knows. But the reason I won't even argue this subject on a conciliatory level is because of the end game answer the Dems have for it - which is to tax the $h!t our of everyone in America that uses fossil fuels including our power generating plants. Entire industries in the U.S. are getting killed for this supposed AGW.

Also, fact that the Dems think that we alone can fix the global CO2 levels is unrealistic... even if we get to zero emissions that would be impossible.

When the UN and the congress makes China, Russia, India and Brazil all sit down at the table and work together to reduce CO2 emissions than we can talk honestly about it. Until then it's a moot point.

The US has decreased CO2 emissions by 8% since 2000, yet CO2 emissions, globally, have increasd 25% since then.Shutting down co2 emissions will just make the situation in some third world countries even worse.
Al Gore should just take his oscar and the millions he has scammed, disappear and shut up. How he has carried this off is a mystery. I guess people will believe what they want to.

from what I have read it was the Icelandic volcano 2 years back that has resulted in a colder northern hemisphere as all that particulate matter has begun to take effect. read a fairly thorough piece on it not long ago but can't find it right now.

That said, the northern passage was open in the past and it was recent enough that the scientists documented the common DNA between the whale species that populate the eastern and western parts of the northern passage. But not so recent that man made pollution had anything to do with it

Wasn't this the year that we were supposed to have an ice-free North Pole? Oh, no, wait, that was last year. No, dammit, it was the year before that. Crap, forgot to carry the one...it was the year before that.

Row's definition of "cherry pick" is to completely ignore that failed prediction from scientists that INSISTED the Arctic would be free of ice by the summer of 2013.

So is it your contention that most cLimate scientists subscribed to this prediction, or a few? Most scientists don't "insist" on specific predictions for the future.

link? and please, step it up a little from The Daily Mail.

It's going to take a few more years; perhaps a decade, before the cooling data and increased ice coverage will finally expose the lie of AGW. By then it will be painfully obvious that the AGW lie is aimed at furthering several progressive agendas. The most dangerous objective of the AGW lie in the US is to facilitate the government take over of the energy sector. Why? Progressives hate fossil fuels. They believe that the fossil fuel sector must be destroyed and the sooner the better. They are trying to force "green" energy on the US as fast as possible. The AGW lie is a useful tool to that end. To progressives this is a noble cause wherein the end justifies the means. Dislocations in the economy and the destruction of entire industries matter not to the progressives. The tax burden on American families matters not. The noble cause is the only thing that matters. The desired end: no more use of fossil fuels and government control of the energy sector.
Obama's use of the EPA to strangle the coal industry, restrict oil drilling and obstruct the Keystone pipeline plus his love affair with failed green energy companies makes perfect sense to AGW disciples. The good news is that the AGW lie will be thoroughly exposed before it can do irrecoverable damage to the country.
