We need some recognition that we’re doing a service to the community. But we can’t do it for free. And we can’t do it at a loss. No other business would do that,” exclaims the president of the California Medical Association, as The Washington Examiner reports, independent insurance brokers estimate 70% of California's 104,000 licensed doctors are boycotting the exchange. “The Covered California board says we have plenty of doctors, and they allege they have 85 percent of doctors participating, but they’ve shown no numbers," and if a large number of doctors either balk at participating in the exchange or retire, the state’s medical system could be overwhelmed. “Enrollment doesn’t mean access, because there aren’t enough doctors to take the low rates of Medicaid,” warns one health director. “There aren’t enough primary care physicians, period.”

Story is a bit weird. The first graf says the head of the CMA is estimating that 70 percent of doctors will boycott, even though it doesn't quote him saying it. But the pullout quote says the 70 percent figure comes from "independent insurance brokers." But it doesn't say where that figure came from? A poll? They talked to one broker? Where?

I guess they waited to do this because they too didn't know what was in the ACA.

And I'd almost be willing to bet that 70% of said doctors voted for Obama.

Hey, docs, how does your own medicine taste ?

Sadly liberalism has consumed California like a plague. Being liberal is THE thing to do in the Golden State. That includes doctors, professionals, and business owners.

Even if the number is 20% or 30% across the country, it is a huge disaster for both Obamacare and health care in general in the U.S. At some point, people either can't find a doctor or can't get health care without waiting for weeks or months. I wonder how many doctors were predicted by Obamacare's authors to opt out. How will Obama resolve this issue? By increasing the payments to the doctors to increase their participation to an acceptable rate. Will Obama raise the premiums accordingly? Of course not. He has to be concerned about the huge numbers of people that will be going bankrupt with the current premiums. He will claim that future health care savings will make up for the initial financial shortfalls, which of course is wild speculation and almost certainly incorrect. So we will be stuck with a massive hole in the deficit due to Obamacare (in other words, he will steal from our grandchildren to maintain the illusion that the program is working).

What makes places like California interesting is that there is a large population of wealthy people, and a huge population of poor people. And there is a high cost of living, which means doctors do not want to work on the cheap and live in a trailer or a crappy house. The wealthy will still be able to get medical care without waiting. In fact, their access to immediate medical care might have gotten better, since the number of non-Obamacare doctors is increasing and will be competing for their patronage. The poor are screwed. The few doctors they have access to will have to see hundreds of patients a day to pay their college loans, and live a lifestyle they are willing to live in California. The poor will have to accept whatever diagnosis the doctor gives them after 30 seconds of visit time.

The whole thing was passed illegally by one party and it was pimped-out with total lies.

If you like your healthcare you can keep it. LIE
If you like your doctor you can keep tour doctor... PERIOD!
If you like you plan you can keep it.
the average family will save $2,500... total bull-$h!t.

The reason is the exchange plans are NOT negotiating reasonable rates----they are often offering BELOW medicare rates----why would a doctor agree???
Hospital based docs for one. Plus strategic plays---sign on to exchange now and then get better rates in the future.

But they are often offering rates that would often lead docs to making FAR below acceptable wages---the docs that are agreeing are the lower and mid level docs----the best docs--with bust practices are refusing for the most part.

NO ONE is telling americans this---they see blue cross and think they will get blue cross panel of docs-----NO THEY WONT......

The people will find out soon enough, the question what will the response be? Totally take it over? Force all providers to take what the insurance companies offer? Force all providers to take Medicaid which pays crap? That's a big party to consider, so far the ACA has been great at getting new people on Medicaid, not sure how it is in CA, but in FL hardly anybody takes it, so great they have "ins" but nobody takes it, great solution.

Obama's next move is to slap a tax on doctors who don't accept Obamacare. Obviously, they are making too much money and not paying their fair share. Nothing that an unconstitutional executive order can't fix.

The ONLY thing that can stop the ACA from really taking over is if enough docs refuse to accepts the exchange rates.

This would cause the whole thing to collapse and the ACA would be dead. This probably wont happen.....but it is the only way I see the ACA dying.

What ACA people are counting on is that by bribing hospitals and insurance companies they can combine forces to squeeze the docs---they probably are right....
