I hope you're planning to come & experience The Swamp. It will be less than full due to the time & so forth, but opening day is usually fun. It is one of the great venues in sports. It would be a shame to park your enthusiasm on a couch.

Facts are UF struggled against a 8-5 MAC team that Toledo beat by a similar margin in last season's opener. With what has transpired with Jones and Driskel I don't see UF being a better team than last years for this opener. Toledo will be much improved and a heck of alot better than the BGSU team that lost by 2 TD's. Again not predicting a Rocket win, but that Toledo should make it interesting. The way the program is developing, when the Canes visit the Glass Bowl, Toledo should be very good.

I agree, though, something like 42-20 is still "interesting," at least for a little while.

Perhaps.... but weren't you saying the same thing BEFORE Jones and Driskel got sick?

One if my favorite SOS philosophies is that players work their tails off all year to play just 12-14 times. He doesn't think there is any need for motivation beyond that. His Gator teams' record against unranked opponents was pretty spectacular, as I recall.

When you consider how many (few) snaps that actually involves for starters, subs, special teams, spot players, redshirts, the injured and bench warmers it becomes more clear. Every live play should be recognized for the incredible opportunity it is.

One of the maddening things about a very successful 2012 was their odd capacity to play superbly against LSU, USC etc., then look pedestrian to lousy against Louisiana, etc.

I HOPE they managed to learn that lesson.

Facts are facts: Toledo's defense struggles to stop anyone, including MAC teams.

Now, they've lost 7 starters and some of their fans expect the newbies to be capable of stifling SEC athletes in their first game on the road.

I mean, sure, stranger things have happened, so it's possible. But until their defense proves itself capable, then they have as many questions as does our offense.

And one thing no one questions about our offense is that we can pound the rock. Something they struggled to stop last year.

In this game, I would prefer to pound the rock in the first half and work on our passing game in the second half.

Since you continue to recycle the same logic we hear every summer...

    1. How many points did you beat South Carolina by?

    2. How many points did you beat Florida State by?

    3. How many points did you beat LSU by?

And IRT Jones and Driskel....The game is not THIS Saturday so....

Word of advice, be careful with open containers. GPD (police) and UPD will bust you quick. They can be pricks about it. Just a heads up.

Also...we encourage all visiting fans to show their love of animals by barking at any dogs that the cops have with them. The officers appreciate your showing the little pups some attention.....so yeah, definitely do that while your here. :ninja:

You Toledo guys are welcome - both here and at the game.

Good to get some perspective outside the orange and blue zone once in a while.

Sounds like you have a lot to be proud of with your team.

    That's how it should be.

So may the better team win - and we ALL prevail with NO INJURIES!
