Probably not, carrying a long gun openly is legal, but the law also says its illegal to do it in menacing manner. So, I'm not sure what the "test" is on that, but it sure seems subjective.

On a side note, it is of my opinion, that people who live in typically safe areas around the country who feel the need to carry; have a heightened irrational fear of death or some juvenile need to be met

Dear Sigmund, you left out the part about the length of the barrel being a psychological projection of the penis.

A perfect opportunity just passed you right by.

You never see a sniper... So at least know something before you make yourself look more like a wuss.

If snipers were around, the women would never know. A legal counter demonstration without any law broken isn't even close and you have pics to prove they were not in fact in a sniper position as there would be no pics if that were the case.

Obvious satire interpreted as a serious statement? I think somebody started a thread on this recently.

So you're saying that the women's group staged the whole thing to get their point across?

    Interesting.

I don't know why anyone would be intimidated by these lovely people:

"In recent weeks OCT has been involved in two ugly incidents. While openly carrying a rifle in Texas is legal, almost all handguns may not be openly carried, but instead must be concealed. During an October 26 protest of this law near the Texas State Capitol organized by OCT, two supporters openly carried technically legal replica pre-1899 revolvers which fall into a small exemption to the general ban on open carrying of handguns. After police handcuffed the two men, an extremely agitated crowd of OCT supporters began hurling obscenities at law enforcement. A police spokesperson later stated, "The men were openly carrying suspected deadly weapons and were given the opportunity to leave the area, but refused."

"Supporters of OCT called a police officer a "piece of garbage," a "****ing scumbag," a "worthless piece of shit," a "worthless waste of life," and a "traitor." One man repeatedly shouted "**** you, pig."

"OCT's October 19 gun rights rally at The Alamo in San Antonio, Texas featured conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and insurrectionist Mike Vanderboegh. At the rally -- where supporters reportedly called police "tyrants with badges" -- Jones told the crowd, "We're not going to lay down if you offensively attack us. If it's a war they want, it's a war they'll get." Vanderboegh, whose anti-government views inspired a domestic terrorist plot, told the crowd, "You can kill us, if you think you can. But remember, we'll shoot back," and, "When democracy turns to tyranny, the armed citizenry still gets to vote."

"Guise?" They are mothers. What's your problem with mothers? That they're politically active against causes you support?

I am not sure I understand. In the first account it seems two men were handcuffed by the police who did not know the law. They were called ugly names because they were abusing their position as law officers.

In the second account one speaker at a rally called cops bad names and said they would not lay down, would not be intimidated....Was he over the top? Sure. At any point did they threaten the general pubic? Mothers?

How many threads have we had on this board about cops overstepping and abusing their position? Wasn't it in texas where the veteran was harassed in front of his son while legally carrying?

This group did nothing illegal, and so far no one has brought forth a shred of evidence that they are violent, trouble hunting people. The mothers do not like guns. They are allowed to protest, demonstrate, gather, etc... Why can't the other side of the coin do the same?

They can do the same, and they did. What's your problem, that some people didn't like it? I don't think it was illegal, just dickish. I do think their particular brand of insurrectionist rhetoric hints at a willingness to embrace violence. And I don't think the gun movement really wants these people as ambassadors of responsible gun owners.

And i think that anyone who continues to support Obama is just dickish. It hints at a willingness to embrace stupidity...

    So much for opinions, huh?
