When was the last time in UF history that the Gators lost a football game this early in September? My pastor asked me that question at church today.

    Anyone?

Only happened in the 3rd or 4th week, Jag.
    Mississippi (at home) 2008
    Auburn (at home) 2007
    Alabama (away) 2006

I needed some religion too after watching that game.

Thanks! Unbelievable if that is accurate to have gone 24 years.

It's not a jinx. I tried to explain this yesterday but nobody wanted to listen. Year 3 is almost always the toughest in a transition from one coach to another, especially if philosophy is changing.. And yes I know Saban won a national title in his 3rd year. There are always exceptions and the difference in style from Shula to Saban wasn't all that different.

The 3rd year is when the new coach's recruits start taking over most starting positions but they're young and inexperienced. But it's almost always a good thing as years 4 and beyond reap the benefits of the early struggles.

But how dare anyone suggest we have patience.

I believe it has been 9 years. Miami beat us in 2003.

In Spurrier's 3rd year, 1992, we started 1-2 that included a loss to Miss. St. 30-6.

I don't know if that was the last time but it was year 3 and that isn't a coincidence.

Less of a jinx and more of a change in coaching philosophies and personnel.

Hilarious. When we lost multiple times in 2011 we were told, Saban did the same thing his first year at Alabama. Wait until Year 2. Okay. We lose 1 regular season game in 2012 and a bowl game and we were told by all the internet experts, almost like Saban (except his loss was in the SEC title game prior to the bowl loss). Now in year 3, we look to be headed back down the ladder to a 3, 4, or 5 loss season and looking bad doing it, and we are told forget Saban and his Natty in Year 3. Which is it and when can we stop making these dumb comparisons? Right now, looks more like Zook than Saban anyways.

Also, young and inexperienced excuse is tiresome. Check the lineups. Not a lot of 1 or 2 year players out there actually playing.

Thanks Player! Now I see why my Pastor asked. He knows enough about Florida football that they rarely lose so early. By the way, he played defensive back for Baylor back in the mid 70's. He always brings up Baylor football in his sermons.

    Baylor's a Christian school too...isn't it?
When you see your pastor next ask him about it.

I tend to be optimistic, but with the offseason this Gator team had (including former Gator players), it's almost as if we dared the football Gods to dis us. Too much bad ju-ju during the summer.
