I guess biology 101 is just way too controversial these days.

    From the link:

A national pro-life organization is outraged after three major American newspapers rejected a pro-life ad as “too controversial.”

The Chicago Tribune, USA Today, and the LA Times refused to run an advertisement created by Heroic Media.

The ad features a hand holding a 20- to 24-week-old baby with the quote, “This child has no voice, which is why it depends on yours. Speak Up.”

Heroic Media Executive Director Joe Young said he was shocked and angered that the media outlets were willing to talk about the issue but were unwilling to show the reality of life at 20 weeks.

Good thing that wasn't a live birth murder (partial birth abortion)... becasue the Leftists big lie (abortion isn't murder) would need serious damage control after that kind of publicity.

Almost 80% of Americans support some form of abortion.

    Are they all leftists?

So what? They're private companies and don't have to give a platform to anything they don't want to.

80% - where are they are these stats from? Are you also going to really pretend that people that only support abortion in the case of a mother's health being affected and rape are actually true proponents of abortion?

I'm not totally against it, but I do find the whole late term thing painfully and personally disgusting.

I don't have to pretend because to that extent they are proponents of it.

Would like the ad much better if it called on one another to discourage abortions rather than call on the government to create more rules. Does anybody truly believe that it's a lack of rules as to why there are so many abortions in this country?

    Go GATORS!

those newspapers/media have the right to have as advertisers in their rag whoever they choose to allow to advertise in their paper

I am quite sure that Fox and other right wing media have a list of points of view they won't provide or sell ad time to in their rag, TV, or other media

    -----

bottom line---just because there is freedom of speech does not mean L.A. times, Chicago Tribune, USA Today, Fox, Breitbart, WND, etc, etc are obligated to sell or give advertising space to people(or organizations) that the media(be it left wing, right wing, or dead center) considers to be wacked, etc.

that means the media is not obligated to co-sign or promote what it considers BS.

Somewhat ironic-just a few weeks ago those praising the florist for exercising his right to not sell flowers to a gay couple are now criticizing others for the same exercise of rights. And vice versa.

What parallel universes we live in with regard to our beliefs.

Those on the right were saying that the government shouldn't force the florist to provide flowers for a gay wedding. Those on the left said that the florist, despite being a private company, should be legally required to provide flowers for the gay wedding. Now it seems that those on the left believe that private companies have the right to make these kinds of decisions.

Nobody in this thread has suggested the government should force these newspapers to run the ads. They are just exercising their rights to criticize the decision.

Nice that you equate commerce with taking the life of the unborn. My daughter is at 20 weeks in her pregnancy and she and her husband both feel the baby moving. It is a live little person.

Only the political non-profits and their lobbiests (on both sides) who have a vested ($$$$$) interest in keeping the debate right were it is. . . now and in the near and distant future.

Sorry. Logic has no place in the current political process (unless we're talking the logic of keeping one's self gamefully employed).

Both involve commerce and the exercise of individual rights, one is just a little more emotionally charged to you.

I'm certainly pro choice but that doesn't mean my wife and I would ever choose an abortion. Years ago she had a problem pregnancy and we made the decision not to abort despite much higher odds of having a baby with birth defects. Ultimately it was taken out of our hands when she miscarried.

We'll never solve the abortion debate on here as even the most conservative of posters agree that it should be allowed in certain cases, but its no less a murder then in your mind, is it? A little person is a little person regardless of how they got there. Yet in those instances abortion is justified by almost everybody. I just draw the line in a slightly different place to begin with..

"Or they will promote and Co-sign the BS that they want to!"

you are absolutely dead on target(IMO)

and I believe that is true of left wing media, right wing media, etc.

news media probably ceased being at least somewhat honest(ie---with out the s load of spin in recent years) since the comic book Superman came out and The Daily Planet. And that was fiction even then

It appears that the newspapers didn't reject the ads because they were anti-abortion, but because of the content of the ad. the florist didn't reject providing the flowers because of the nature the flower arrangement, but because of the customer.

Americans believe in some form of abortion? How many believe abortion is used for birth control? I think most Americans are smart enough to know there are extenuating circumstances for abortion and most Americans don't think abortion should be done on a assembly line method and solely for birth control.
