That's because the old staff thought 3 star players were better than him. Really? I'm thankful those coaches are gone. I wouldn't come close to making that statement in Sept. but it's now become obvious they weren't very good at recruiting and lots of other things. They didn't like Trey Dean? Jeezy..;)

They also didn't really even offer Grimes, apparently. Each group has preferences, and quite clearly Coach Mullen and Crew have somewhat different preferences than Coach Mac & Crew. Note however, some of their 3* kids from 2017 named Kadarius Toney and Malik Davis, and from 2016 named Jawaan Taylor, Jachal Polite and Voseen Joseph.

Really, other than Nuss and Nord, Coach Mac's choices were consistently good. We can hope that Coach Mullen will prove as good, and possibly better, plus actually producing a functional offense against most teams.

David Reese anyone? He's only been our best tackler and leader on defense since he started playing for us, oh and he was a 3 star who was pushed out of michigans class.

Reese makes many tackles downfield and is consistently beat over the top in passing. In my opinion he plays like a 3 ⭐️.

Mac & Co. made some very good # star signings, no doubt about it, But when I read that they passed Trey Dean over for someone like a 3 star Juco player (Deontae Williams?) it makes me wonder if there were several other 4 star or better recruits that they didn't recruit hard or passed over and took lower rated players instead. Jeezy muhweezy, Mullen & Co. think Trey dean can play CB too!! I don't understand the lack of interest in him by our former coaching staff.

Dean has been busy recruiting for UF as Jones has been... been recruiting Quay Walker and AU commit Matthew Hill real hard.

Dean thinks he can get Walker to sign with UF. At least he's confident.

Look, with 3* kids on top teams, only about 25-35% ever make the 2-deep, while with Mac, 40-50% made the 2-deep in their first year, and that went to more like 65-70% in year 2 (we only had 3 years).

Given that these are very young men, it's completely impossible to hit all, but Mac was very good with 3*, and consistently so, and he faced absolutely desperate situations at LB, OLine, WR, RB and QB. from day 1. The first spring, there were not enough scholarship OLine to put 2 teams on the field.

I honestly don't think you can fault his recruiting very much given the death bed that Muschamp left.

Saw on Rivals that he’s having a whale of a week and he’s the most physical corner there. Great news!
