Florida has flipped Miami cornerback commit Chauncey Gardner, according to his Twitter account. Gardner camped at Florida on Saturday and apparently decided what he saw of the facilities and the coaching staff were enough to get him to switch his commitment. The Cocoa (FL) Cocoa prospect is a 2016 prospect rated as a four-star.

"It’s a great, it’s nice," Gardner said of Florida. "I mean it’s really the place to be if you want to be here."

He is the No. 9 cornerback in the nation in the 247Composite rankings, an industry-generated recruiting ranking. He is the No. 16 player in the state of Florida and the No. 152 player in the nation.

Snitches get stitches, or in this case they get 4* recruits yanked from under their own radar coverage. Way to go Champ!

Saturday was a big day for Florida as they hosted several top recruits on campus for Will Muschamp’s camp and received a big commitment for the Class of 2016.

2016 cornerback Chauncey Gardner (5-11, 190, Cocoa, FL High) camped at Florida on Saturday and received an offer and he immediately flipped his commitment from Miami to Florida.

“I Would Like To Thank Miami For All The Opportunities They Presented To Me But I’m Taking My Talents To Gainesville #CHOMP#GoGators,” Gardner said via Twitter.”

Gardner, who has two offers from the in-state schools, joins Baton Rouge cornerback Tre Jackson and Naples receiver Tyler Byrd as members of the Class of 2016.

As a sophomore Gardner rushed for 92 yards and 3 touchdowns while also catching 3 touchdowns and adding another 307 yards receiving on offense.

On defense Gardener recorded 37 tackles and had 3 interceptions while also blocking punt for Cocoa.

Chauncey Gardner was the Peter Sellers character in the movie Being There. I have to wonder if this kid's parents saw that movie. In any case, I'm happy about him Being Here.

I knew that name was familiar when I saw that he had committed. Hope he's smarter than the Peter Seller's character.

Peter Sellers was Chance the Gardener. It was the idiots who read something deep into the nothing statements he made (sounds eerily familiar) who thought that was his name.

One of my top 5 movies of all time.

His last quote in the OP actually sounds more like Yogi Berra than Chance the Gardener.

He will be back soon as Coach Mac & Callahan can meet up with him . I think he will really enjoy being coached up and Callahan has some good credentials imo !!

Same height as Haden, VH3, Darrelle Revis... Not sure why you think a good corner should be 6'+

B/c of WR that are 6'3" and 6'4". CBs like Haden and VH3 rarely appear. UF has been extremely lucky to get these two so close in time.

Lito and JJ were 5'10". I just don't your logic bc the number of good CBs that are much taller is pretty small. It's hard to be tall and quick. I'm not a fan of 5'9" or shorter, but 5'11" or 6'0" is perfect IMO.

Most great corners are 6'0" or below. You dont want a taller db because they tend to be less agile

Yeah does this dude know what he's talking about? There aren't many Richard Sherman's growing on trees (tall corners who have quick hips and can be just as fast as shorter corners).

I don't think corners need to be 6' plus but they are getting bigger. Muschamp specifically said he wanted bigger corners. Not so much to match up in coverage but he wanted more physical guys who could jam bigger WRs at the LOS. That's a trend in both college and the NFL. The era of corners being 5'8" is coming to an end.

^^and that's fine. We aren't asking to recruit 5'8 corners or even 5'9 or 5'10. But to say no to someone with good/great corner skills who is 5'11 or 6' "only" is dumb IMO.
