Keeping muschamp may have helped salvage last year's recruiting class but it appears it's killing this one, at least for the time being before the season starts. We definitely don't have the recruiting prowess we're used to around here anymore. Sigh.

That's not the way I see it, I think things are looking really good for us in the recruiting trail.

The key words in your post are....."at least for the time being before the season starts."

I have bad news and good news for you:

The bad news is that UF certainly won't win the trophy for best oral commitments in August.

The good news is no one gives or wins a trophy for best oral commitments in August.

We started out slowly in the '07/'08 cycle, only to finish with what some "experts" ranked as a top-5 class. For a while I think we were stuck at only three commitments or so, but ended up signing a pretty nice class-on paper. It's a shame it sucked on the field!

There are a lot of big names out there, players committed to other schools who will ultimately flip to us, guys who are leaning our way and will sign elsewhere, etc...this class hasn't even really begun to take shape. All it takes is putting an exciting product on the field to get these kids runnin' their mouths about Florida at places like the Under Armour all star game. You start winning games, and the people want to see what's going on in Gainesville.

Florida has a lot to be excited about going forward. Stay healthy and win some games. ;) Everything else will take care of itself.

Hotlanta, they only place those precursors on their statements to lend credence to what they are saying, knowing (or not) that the prime recruiting time is during the season when kids are taking their officials. I guess harping on the gsu loss got old even for them. :) whether fans like it or not champ is building a GREAT foundation for a championship team.

QB is where it all starts and we got 2 of the best last year in grier and harris, and then this year with sheriron jones, our qb spot is set for a few years. But then you need to protect him, well our Oline haul has been great the last 2 years with David Sharpe leading the way on the line last class and this one we already have T. Jordan, maddawg, and Horton and may just add merrick and hopefully ivey. In '13 class we were ranked the best LB class and we will probably get it again this year if we land either smith, coney or holland or all :)

And last year we had the best QB class with grier and harris and db class with tabor, jackson, dawson and wilson.

Not sure why people think our recruiting is lacking or going downhill when we have had the rivals recruiter of the year 2 out of the last 3 years ( Durkin in '12 and T-rob in '14).

I guess perception trumps reality in many cases.

@ZachAbolverdi: Ryan Davis on UF visit today w/ 5-stars Campbell, Cowart & Jefferson. "We could win a couple championships if we all played there together."

I believe that we did a really good job last year at the DT spot with Willis and Holley.

I really believe that the 2014 recruiting class is going to be a very strong one in the long run with both standouts and solid glue producing guys.

Got to build on it moving forward......we need to pop a top 3 class this year. Our immediate area is packed with talent this talent this year. Got to keep it here

If our offense can put together a good season with some excitement, then we will have a very good recruiting. class.
