Gator Commitment #7: OT George Brown 6-6 264 of Winton Woods High School, Cincinnati OH.

    ***
    7.25.2014 Commitment.

    **********

Friday is starting off to be a good day for Florida as the Gators landed commitment number 9 when offensive tackle George Brown (6-6, 264, Cincinnati, OH Winton Woods) announced for Florida.

“I committed because I loved the coaches and the atmosphere there,” Brown said. “I went to the workout there and I was watching the players workout and you can tell last year was a fluke. Coach Dillman, the strength coach, is one of the best strength coaches around and you can tell he gets the players ready to play.”

Brown doesn’t plan on losing many games in college and he believes Florida is going to turn things around this year.

“Just the way the team is working out and going about theirselves I think they will,” Brown said. “They are working really hard and they have the mindset that they are going to go out there and do good this year.”

Great news to start the day, and he isn't even at FNL. We needed some good news after the 2 decommits earlier in the week.

Here are a couple more quotes from the 247 article. I think we are going to like this kid in Ganesville.

Three-star offensive tackle George Brown Jr. has committed to Florida, picking the Gators over Kentucky by pulling a live baby alligator out on stage.

"I'd like to thank all the coaches that recruited me and everything," Brown said. "It was a long process, I had a great time. I think I'm going to make my home the Swamp.

"When I'm down there it's just a certain feeling I have, and I can tell by watching the team work out that they're ready to get the season going down there. Coach (Will) Muschamp and coach(Mike) Summers, I have a good relationship with them because they recruited my older brother.

"I've just got to go down there and work hard in the weight room, and definitely the classroom. But before I go down there, I have to stay focused here and help my team win a state championship."

Great pickup and I like what he had to say about the future. It's hard to believe there is that much difference in rating between 247 and Rivals, where Brown is a top 130 overall player which is deep in 4 star range and he held offers from the best teams in every conference.

I agree. I really like both 3* O-linemen that we have committed and feel that they both should be rated a little bit higher. Probably homerism, but whatever.

    Boom!!

@ZachAbolverdi: George Brown's commitment will help UF with Te'Von Coney, Byron Cowart and CeCe Jefferson. All three say they want to go to school with him.

I like this kid. I feel like he and Jones will be our Quincy Wilsons this year. He talked a little about it today as well:

"The commits I have already been talking to are Tyler Jordan, Jerome Baker and Marcus Lewis. There are a lot of people right now that haven't committed who I know will pretty soon, so I think this class has a chance to be top two. I will definitely be very active and hopefully we can get those people and a few more to commit."

He plays for Kentucky, but I am not sure of his name. I saw it in an article somewhere, and can't remember where.

This guy made his announcement by pulling out a live baby gator, bro. Never seen that before.

He will be a monster once he puts 20-30 pounds on that 6'6" frame.

If he's going to play O-Line, he'll need more than 20 or 30 lbs on that frame. He's listed at 255.

It will take imo 2 or 3 yrs to see what he can do, i'm sure he will redshirt. Seems like a good get.

At this age, with our training table and S&C program, he can put on 30 pounds easily in one year.

I don't think we want to rely on an true frosh, but I also don't think his size will likely be a big issue unless he has a hard time putting on good weight.

And right now, he looks pretty fit. I think he'll be fine. Watch him put on another 10 to 15 lbs of good weight before he even gets to campus.
