And BOOM. Just stole one of the top recruits out of Ohio. Send your thanks to Mr. DJ Durkin who did this all on his own.

Huge pick up, especially for those of us concerned about losing Holland to AU. I didn't think we had a shot with this kid being from Ohio. I'm really impressed with the way this staff is recruiting with all of the "noise in the system".

I just saw this from Thomas Goldkamp on 247. I like to look at the average commitment rating, because I think the overall ratings are too often influenced by quantity over quality:

"The commitment of four-star linebacker Jerome Baker moved Florida up nine spots in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings, from No. 29 to No. 20. Florida has just 10 commitments, and every team ranked ahead of Florida in the 247Sports rankings except USC (10 commits) has more commitments.

The average commitment for the Gators rates at an 89.81. Only six teams ahead of Florida in the rankings have a higher average rating: No. 1 Alabama (93.94), No. 2 Texas A&M (90.74), No. 4 Penn State (90.14), No. 5 Auburn (90.06), No. 11 Georgia (89.82) and No. 15 USC (92.07)."

Really nice pick-up. But to be a Debbie Downer, this is one of those cases where I'll believe he sticks with Florida when the ink dries on his LOI.

I'll believe it once he signs his LOI. Urban Meyer is a great recruiter and I wouldn't doubt him doubling down and working this kid extra hard to try and get him to flip. I really hope he doesn't, I'm just not holding my breath.

Champ plucked Jordan Hicks from Ohio while beating Tressel and Urbs. Hopefully we get George Brown also.

Yes you are a Debbie Downer. Just remember that for every commit that flips away from us, one or more will flip in our direction. To the best of my recollection, our out of state commits have been more likely to stick recently than the Florida kids. Choosing to go that far away to college is usually something that's well thought out.

Tevon Coney looks like a good one too. He was at the Opening. We have a really good shot with him.

Agreed. Any combination of 4 between Baker, Holland, Smith, Thomas, and Coney would be more than ideal for us. That would give us by far the best LB core moving forward in college football.

It'll be tough to land four of those guys, but I think it's doable for our coaches after we just plucked Baker out of Urb's backyard

UF has a lot of good LB's that are giving UF a long look.

    This was a great get.

Hopefully UF can close with Holland, Thomas, and Coney and call it a day.

I seriously doubt that UF gets smith, but last week I would have said the same thing about Baker, so only time will tell.

Either way, if the staff stays in one piece, this should be a very strong class.

You don't think Urban and company were doing everything they could before he committed?
