Maybe it's in their VIP section, but I don't see any specific quotes from McKenzie that would lead them to feel so optimistic.

Same for us really. He has very high interest in us but is taking visits. Probably telling them the same thing.

I think the direction we're going on offense is a GREAT fit for him and hopefully will help sway him our way.

I see nothing out of the ordinary from a school that is in the race for a recruit. The author is trying to create and keep buzz for his site. You can find the same kind of comments on here.

Weather forecast - high in the mid 20s on Saturday and mid teens on Sunday.

Not as cold as it is now, but could be attention getting for a Florida kid. Nobody deserves winter in Indiana.

Seems like ND gets at least two guys from Florida every year. They already have Corey Holmes, so McKenzie may be number 2 this year....hope not

Exactly. Most school recruiting sites are going to put a optimistic spin on every recruit. And it means nothing to project where a player will fit in the system.

Bottom line is that we should feel cautiously optimistic. It's a 3-team race and Florida probably has a slight edge due to proximity. I'd say UF (40%), Ole Miss (30%) and Notre Dame (30%). Anyone suggesting other than that is probably just guessing.

Too bad he didn't take a midweek visit. It was -14 when I drove my wife to O'Hare at 5:00 am this morning. It's -6 right now (11:15). It's usually a little warmer down in South Bend, but I saw the weather forecast last night and some of the lowest temps were in the south burbs.

We're supposed to get snow on Saturday. When we get four or five inches, that part of Indiana usually gets a foot or two.

This is the most brutal winter we've had in a couple of decades. Saw a friend of mine at the grocery store last night. Her face was so screwed up in pain, I barely recognized her. She moved her from Memphis. I'm usually the one saying that it doesn't (or shouldn't) make a difference, but you need to know what -40 windchill feels like before you commit to living someplace like South Bend for four years. You won't play football in it, but you have to walk long distances to class.

If he does sign with the Irish, he'll become "the Human Popsickle Stick."

A couple of long walks between buildings thru wind driven snow could be informative for him.

Anything that cold with wind is brutal. Went up to Vermont a couple of winters ago and even out in 5 to 10 degree weather with wind, I didn't want any part of it for more than a few minutes. Well below zero? No way.

Havent followed the kid's recruitment, but one of NDs main draws for Fla kids is the Catholic connection. Since Heritage is not a Catholic HS, have to think that might be a plus for the home state team.

Kid has unbelievable field vision; one good block and he'll make the other 10 guys look silly... sometimes more than once on the same play.

Watched him live this year against LW in the state semi final game. He impressed many of us more than Sony. Ran a KO back and took a swing pass to the house and possibly a jet sweep too. Their QB was quite impressive as well as their big D lineman (wore number 11) who I believe we have interest in.

Actually, they looked like they had 18 or 20 D1 players on that team. They shouldnt be allowed to play against public schools who cant recruit talent like that.

@ZachAbolverdi: It appears #Gators won't land Isaiah McKenzie or pursue Garrett Johnson. #UF likely closes CJ Worton at WR and tries to flip Travis Rudolph.

McKenzie should be perfect in this offense. Hope this is wrong. Would love to see him in O&B.
