This one is from prior to this past weekend (4/10), but it's nice to see us in the "host" group. Hopefully we can keep up the success and work our way into the national seed group, but I'd take a "host" this year for sure.

    http://www.collegebaseballdaily.com...all-regional-projections-april-30th/#comments

    1. Virginia - Houston
    2. FLORIDA (#2 Miami, #3 High Point, #4 Delaware State) - Texas Tech
    3. Ole Miss - TCU
    4. SWAC - LSU
    5. Indiana - Vanderbilt
    6. South Carolina - U-La-La
    7. Rice - Texas
    8. Oregon State - Cal Poly

The ol' when in doubt, throw Miami & FLORIDA into the same regional.

Miami is going to try really hard to win the ACC Championship so they don't have to come here. But that would be funny bringing the ACC Champ to town as a 2-seed in the regional.

    1. Virginia - Oregon State
    2. FLORIDA (#2 West Virginia, #3 Clemson, #4 Siena) - Texas Tech
    3. SWAC - Cal Poly
    4. Indiana - Vanderbilt
    5. South Carolina - Miami
    6. Ole Miss - Houston
    7. Rice - TCU
    8. U-La-La - LSU

This one projects 10 teams from the SEC. Talk of that happening last year, but I doubt it will happen this year. Of course, if that 10th team does get in, I do agree they'll get sent to Tallahassee as a #2 seed.

I have a hard time understanding how Indiana maintains such a high RPI and ranking with their conference schedule.
They played a pretty good non-conference slate with mixed results but their status as a national seed is still tough to comprehend.

The win/loss record of your opponents is a large part of the RPI, and even though a lot of the Big 10 teams aren't great teams, they still have decent records. Iowa is 24-15, Illinois and Michigan State are both 24-17, etc. Just another reason why the RPI is a flawed calculation.

I can't really say I have an issue with Indiana being a national seed, though. They proved themselves last year, and most of the same players are back. The heart of their order is among the best in the country.

In another thread, fans were discussing how we ought to save Shore and/or Rhodes for games 2 and 3, and go by "committee" in the first game. If it's Stony Brook in the first round, that would not be a good strategy at all.

It is a flawed system for sure but hey it seems to work for us.
I am perfectly happy with them getting a national seed because I don't think the committee could resist the urge to match them up with us after we went their last season.

Something to consider, but since the field expanded to 64 teams, only twice have we been in a situation that didn't involve one of these two scenarios:

    - in a regional with Miami or SWAC
    - paired with a regional that included Miami or SWAC

    2013: paired with SWAC
    2012: paired with NC State
    2011: Miami in our regional
    2010: paired with Miami
    2009: Miami in our regional
2008: we were in SWAC's regional
    2005: paired with SWAC
    2004: paired with Miami
2003: we were in Miami's regional
    2002: Miami in our regional
2001: we were in Miami's regional
    2000: paired with Houston

We missed the field in '99, '06, and '07.

That was a couple of years ago, don't think they even made the tourney last year.

While I absolutely love how Sully has ended Miami's season a handful of times and beating Miami never, ever gets old, I like fresh blood. I would like a GT or Clemson or UVA or Texas tech or Oklahoma or someone different. I am not speaking about any of those teams for this year (UVA in particular!) but why not match UF with other ACC foes or Big XII foes? A change of a scenery is nice.

I don't want Texas since I went to grad school there and root for them whenever they are not playing UF. I was at the game in Omaha a few years back where UF beat Jungmann.

I like variety but I think Sully would prefer to miss Clemson unless it is in Omaha.

It looks like UF gets Miami regardless of our seed. Hey NCAA, ship Cal Poly to UF and Miami to TCU. The #1 overall seed shouldn't get matched with a team that was in consideration for the last national seed regardless of geographic location. UF getting matched with Miami is old and stale.
