I run a private subsidiary within a large public company and received received my annual "here's what your paycheck will look like" email this morning from HR.

Social Security withholding-base increased to $117,000 from $113,700.

Medicare withholding-an additional .9% for wages above 200k.

401k limits and catch up deductions-no change

Moral of the story-it's ok to save a little more for others but not more for yourself.

    Disgusting.

In addition there are going to be new taxes figured into healthcare premiums starting in 2014.

Sadly each generation continues to hand the burden to the next...

But yet the left continues to weep and wail about inequality.
Just in the last few years we've had a 3 percentage point increase in the top marginal tax rate.

And, we've had a 5 percentage point increase in the long-term capital gains rate.

Now, a broad swath of new, progressive income taxes being levied to support Obamacare.

Not to mention all the state income tax increases for top earners to fund a variety of liberal special interests.

But yet the left is not even close to being placated. They want more…and they're already advocating for it to be included as part of any grand bargain on a long-term budget deal.

We all know what a "bargain" means to the left.

I was hoping mine but I fear we will make my kids generation pick up a larger burden than ours...

Sadly, that would be the generation that still has yet to be conceived.

There is nothing preventing you from saving more for yourself or do you just save when there's a tax break involved?

The one controlled by the IMF. Demographic trends firmly favor the dependents so as long as their votes can be mobilized the trend is not our friend

It will be bloody for whichever that does unless we can voluntarily change course now-ish.
