Prince officially visited the Gamecocks over the weekend and told Rivals.com afterward it was the third best visit he’s been on. That doesn’t sound too promising for them.

The Gators could have the inside track at Prince with them getting his last official visit and hisrelationships with Mike Summers and Jalen Tabor. However, there’s a new twist in his recruitment.

Rivals’ Mike Farrell reports that Prince is making a mid-week trip to Penn State before he heads to Florida. The distance factor certainly gives the Nittany Lions a chance to make a late run.

Agree that Penn State could be a real factor... they're a huge name school in that area in addition to being closer for family. It's almost like growing up in Kansas and getting a late offer from Oklahoma. Hope Tabor and company stay positive with him and bring him home. Prince along with Sharpe should really solidify our OT situation in the near term. Anybody else we get will probably be a RS candidate.

Except that I would assume (but don't know) that he wasn't a late offer: I can't imagine PSU didn't offer him earlier.

It looks like PSU's first contact with him was yesterday, TOS doesn't show anything else. fwiw, PSU is also going after Andrew Mike & a lot of other linemen so they may have a lot of PT to offer recruits.

Good point. I'm sure he already had an offer.

Will be interesting to see if Franklin makes any inroads, but he obviously has done enough to get Prince to visit Penn State, which he had not done with O'Brien.

Just hope he's careful in the showers.

Email I just got from 247 states that it's believed Prince's mom may now favor UF! That's always a good sign with a kid from out of state. Mom's usually are the main force trying to keep a kid close to home.

Per Scout's offer list on DP he doesn't have a Penn St offer. Hopefully they are a little late.

    Hope so.

Recruiting is about relationships, most of the time. Franklin just got there. I highly doubt we lose him to PSU. Though I guess it wouldn't surprise me. Recruiting season is crazy. Look at Cook. Punk led us on the whole time, knowing he was going to the university of Florida state.

FWIW Penn State does have four commits listed as OTs.

All good points re PSU. I do think that sometimes a player has an offer but because he is not really involved with the school or intending to visit, it is not reported. But it may well be that this is too little too late for Prince and he was just trying to fill out his visit schedule before coming to UF. I think that if he still claims to be "open" by the time that he visits us, that we will probably get him.

By the way, has it become clear WHEN Prince will be visiting PSU? I got the sense that it wasn't this weekend, which would presumably mean a mid-week visit where he is the only recruit present. (I don't know whether this would be good or bad for us.)

I'm with you. I think Prince is doing his due diligence with Penn State. There's no relationship there like you mentioned.

@rivalsmike: Looks like #PennState won't be getting a visit from Damian Prince now. Good news for #Terps and #Gators I think. Maybe #gamecocks too

Of course, it would be even better news if NO ONE gets that visit. If he trades PSU for LSU, I don't know if that would be better (although we wouldn't have to compete against proximity. If he doesn't visit anyone else, you really have to like our chances.

Not sure how good it is for the gamecocks since he said it was his 3rd best visit; unless he was bluffing. Come on down Prince!

Franklin has us right where he wants us. He is lulling us into a false sense of security by being eliminated. And then we will really feel confident once Prince commits, signs with us, plays four years and graduates--THAT is when Franklin will pounce!

In all seriousness, the guy is a hell of a recruiter and I am glad Prince isn't visiting.

Not sure what edge he is talking about?

@rivalsmike: I'm thinking #Terps have a pretty good edge for Damian Prince now. #Gators will push but I'm leaning towards #Maryland right now

Farrell probably knows what he's talking about. I suspect he's hearing that Prince is probably wanting to stay close to home. I'd have called it before this tweet - UM (50%), UF (40%) and Other (10%). This probably leads me to believe it's more like UM (60%), UF (30%) and Other (10%).

Well we disagree;). I'm not buying it. I think Tabor, Roper, and the fact that we have his last OV will be enough to out weigh the distance factor.
