I'd seen him listed at about 275 all along, then yesterday saw two lists putting him at 318. He may need to lose weight. How is he playing hoops with that much weight?

90% sure he is a Gator. He knows he can come here and start, and one of his best friends is already on campus. We've seemed to gain a lot of momentum with him as of late, which is the key.

I'm guessing he's a force on the inside.

Different point of view, a writer (Chris Anderson) for the Baltimore Sun's opinion:
    Damian Prince (Crystal Ball)
Status: 62% Maryland, 24% Florida State, 11% Florida, 3% Ohio State

    Trend: Florida

Inside Word: The Gators have received the last three picks in the Crystal Ball, no doubt in part due to the word that Prince's good friend, Jalen Tabor, had flipped to Florida and would be enrolling early.

I'm not so certain that plays a big role in his recruitment. In fact, Prince has said that very thing, stating that he and Tabor are making separate decisions and are not necessarily looking to go to the same place.

For how much talk there is about South Carolina, I'm surprised it hasn't gotten more love. I'd consider the Gamecocks the biggest threat to the hometown team. Still, I have a hard time seeing him going so far from home with how close he is to his family, and I'm staying firm with my pick of Maryland.

Is Chris Anderson just a sports reporter or pretty involved in recruiting year-round?

I ask that because the second I see "newspaper journalist", I start to get skeptical. There was journalistic integrity 30 years ago. There was impartiality 30 years ago. There was the fifth estate 30 years ago. These men and women were told to uphold the highest standards in their work to provide a service to the American public.

At some point, in the past 30 years and much further back from present day, their primary goal turned to directing eyeballs, selling advertising and treating the American public like a child who wants to be breast fed and stare at large, shiny toys. When the American public stopped remembering which one of these idiots was the biggest liar, newspaper journalists stopped caring about facts and started writing opinion pieces disguised as facts.

Not surprising that "Maryland", the home team, is listed first by a large margin. It gives their readers the warm fuzzies. That's why I as, how involved in recruiting is this dude?

Agree, but might want to change those "30"s to "40"s. Journalistic integrity, objectivity and honesty went out the window with Watergate, pretty much exactly 40 years ago.

Uh, Watergate was and is considered a triumph for journalism. I would love to have that kind of journalism nowadays. I could do without the anonymous sources, but in that case, those sources led to major breakthroughs. We need that type of investigative reporting.

Totally agree. Would comment further on the Nixon administration but this is the recruiting forum.

Charles Barkley weighed 310 as a freshman at Auburn, still had hops and dominated in SEC play.

I was working the game Barkley's first visit to Rupp vs UK. He dunked on Bowie and Turpin that night. The rims are still shaking. No one had ever heard of him until that night. He is a one in a billion genetic freak. BTW Sir Charles was about 5'10" 22o lbs as a high school junior, was cut from his HS team, grew to 6' 4" during that year. (Sorry for the short hijack).

I was at the O'Dome for his first visit there. Remember a few dunks, but mainly the three pointer he hit.

Yeah, that was Barkley's self administered nickname. He really, really, really was a good basketball player. As was mentioned, something of a freak.

@rivalsmike: Looks like #LSU and #PSU are battling for a mid week visit for OL Damian Prince. SAT this weekend, #Gators weekend after. #Terps, #Gamecocks
