you think he is faster than Dalvin Cook or Travis Rudolph? I would be a lot of money he is not running a 4.4
Stedman Bailey ran a 4.52 at the NFL combine
Not often you lose 37-7 at home to your rival and steal one of their best recruits the day after.
If it went the other way it's time to worry, but this is some GOOD news.
No, not faster than Cook or Rudolph....mere sarcasm. Ryan won the MVP Honor at the Step it up Combine here in Orlando, also Fastest Man Award 4.44....wind-aided! He runs consistently in the 4.6 range, however his game speed and vision is very good (can make people miss) and his stride length makes him look much slower...and he is strong,
So he runs a 4.6 not a 4.4. I like him as a player and think he will do really well at UF in the slot but you and me both know he is not a 4.4 guy.
I like Sousa a lot. He is going to be a Wes Welker type player that doesn't have elite size or speed but understands the game and runs good routes. I would have liked to keep him as I think he would have fit the role Kenny Shaw has played the last couple years. He is not, however one of FSU's best recruits.
believe or not wes welker was the first player that came to mind when I watched his highlights as well.
There's probably a reason he's unranked on Rivals and 139th on Scout but he must have some talent. Spurrier used to get guys this and somehow they were wide open every other play. So maybe in our next system he does well. I doubt in Pease's system he would catch many passes. At any rate, if we get lucky enough to add an E Lauderdale or T Rudolph I will consider our WR class a huge success.
I really don't know anything about this kid, but I have to wonder if FSU might not have politely pushed this kid out. I saw a comment from him that gave me the impression the FSU coaches didn't exactly try to talk him out of flipping.
I've wondered the same. I am underwhelmed with the pick up but here's to hoping he has a productive career and burns FSU four times.
I think Sousa is the kid of player that won't wow you with measurables but just produces on the field. Like I said earlier, I think he is a Kenny Shaw or Travis McGriff type player. I wanted him in this class as I think he will be a WR you can rely on.
I think FSU has some WR they feel good about higher on their board but I'd prefer a bird in the hand on this one.
You guys wanted to keep him and you wanted to keep Pack
They always knew if he got the UF offer that is where he was going this flip was expected.
Yes to Pack but it was known he could flip. If FSU lands Rudolph, and one of Jackson or Dupree, I think they will be fine.
I'm not suggesting I'm underwhelmed by the pick up or that I don't want him or that he won't be a great Gator. And to GATORAZ's point, I'm not suggesting FSU didn't want him. I'm simply saying that I don't think the FSU coaches were exactly devastated by the loss of this commitment.
With the season FSU has had, I'm sure that they have guys wanting to commit that wouldn't have given them a second look a few months ago. Same thing happened with us a few years ago. So if you suddenly have a 4 or 5 star elite WR wanting to commit, are you seriously not going to try to figure out how to make room? We've done the exact same thing several times over the past few years.
I don't know if that's the case here, but based on his comments about telling the FSU coaches, it didn't sound like they did anything to try to keep him.
FSU will be fine no matter what but you wanted to keep Pack and Sousa. There was no real reason to fight for a kid everybody knew was going to flip if UF pushed.
I think you guys get Rudolph good luck with the other two
Who cares what hes rated dude is a playmaker. And if his rating is important to you espn has him as a four star. You dont lead the state of florida in recieving for nothing
Does he now? I did not know that, that makes me optimistic. What's the reasoning for his relatively low ranking?
High 3 star low 4 star ranking is not low. That is what he is a future starter for a BCS level football team.
