I think this young man will make a good offensive lineman, and Billy D might be able to use him some next year, when it looks like the Gators are going to be empty of Big Bodies.

    Good get.

Especially losing out on both Young and Tunsil.

Getting Sharpe was a definite need.

    ESPN

    Uncovered Gems

    David Sharpe (Jacksonville, Fla./Providence)
    2014, C/PF, 6-8, 290
    Committed to Florida (football)
This big-bodied insider could easily play at least mid-major basketball. He is very mobile and nimble for his size and is a solid midrange shooter who even hit a 3. No doubt he is a big-time football player, but with better conditioning he could also be quite a basketball player.

I would make this guy into a tight end like Saint Jimmy Graham.

So you think he'll play both sports for the Gators?

I have seen him play BBall a couple times. He would barely make the team over at UNF. Not a very good basketball player. He dropped the Bball dream this week when he left providence to finish high school at fletcher.

can't say I agree with this, while his hoop career is hopefully over he was a very solid player. He had good footwork and was a load in the paint, Sharpe could be very useful at a UNF level school. I've played against him 2 or 3 times fwiw.

where do you play. i went to the ACD game this year, where he wasn't impressive at all. and thats about as close to next level competition as he's going to see. its easy to look good against most of the other local teams in jax.

I play for Bartram, they beat us by like 21, but he scored more than Grayson did. I heard he played a shitty game against them this year, but he killed them as a junior. If he had stated at a lower weight, he would've been much better this season.

i just don't see him having the size to be a true big in college, or the skill to be a 4, with bball teams using a stretch 4 so much now he just wouldn't fit in. maybe he could be a walk on at unf. he wouldn't touch the floor at UF though. and yeah, it doesn't surprise me that he would show up big against a team like bartram, no offense. plus i don't think providence is a team that gets hyped for a game vs bartram as compared to ACD. he's a solid player, but i think we agree he made the right choice in football

I agree he can't play for UF, him playing both in college is a joke. I do think he could play for UNF if he hadn't of put on weight for football though.
