We're going to need more players on the D-line to keep them fresh since Roper's offense runs plays every 18 seconds, so Holley will get opportunities early.

We will eventually find out if that means Texans didn't offer, he decided to remain a college coach, there turns out to be miscommunication between coach and player.

Perhaps he's just trying to engineer some sort of raise out of this?! To me, PSU to an NFL gig (and possibly with Bridgewater at QB) makes too much sense for him to decline, surely?

On the plus side, if he now does go, Holley would certainly believe he's lied outright - that has to help :)

EDIT: It would help to know the nature of that call. If B O'B called TH and said "I'm not going", that has more legs than if Holley expressed his concerns and B O'B gave the standard 'Coach-in-Interview-Process' response of "Oh, no I'm not going..." *shuffle* *twitch* *Stare at the floor* etc...

B O'B saying he's not going means very little IMO. Then he just says "when we spoke I didn't know I was going" if he does take the job. It's standard coach speak and the right move. The thing that stands out to me is ESPN reporting very clearly that both sides are trying to make a deal. Not 'O'Brian is their #1 target. We'll see soon enough.

Keep in mind, lineman often commit to a position coach more than some other positions so unless the d-line coach leaves, I'm not sure it would be enough. If a penn state guy like Tom Bradley was brought back and Larry Johnson stays or is promoted to DC, I think Holley stays.

Exactly. He's not going until he's going.

We need numbers at DT and we could use another big-impact player who could play immediately that could help the guys we already have here. We've already seen what a blow to just one DT (Easley) can do to the defense. We have to have a solid rotation of 6 DT's to play, three at both tackle positions.

If BOB called TH, isn't that a recruiting violation as it is dead period.

    Easley's 2010 class included Sharrif Floyd(#1 DT), Ronald Powell#1DE), Lynden Trail(#15DE), Leon Orr(#28DT), and Dominique the #2DE.

2010 was the start of our recent OL slump. It contained OT Ian Silberman, Chaz Green and TEs Gerald Christian, Michael McFarland. Green went on to have a good career. The rest never saw the field. As late as 2013 the best we could put on the field were from 2009, not because they were great but they were still the best we had. We get two more top TEs in 2012 and they have not seen the field. What a mess our TE roster has been.

I think Colin Thompson will be a good one. He was the only true TE in that class and looks like the complete package.

Saw a tweet that Holley said he was told by O'brien that he wasn't going, but he couldn't say for sure.

    huh?

I think O'Brien knows where he's going and he wants the University to keep this recruit long enough to get the new coach up to recruiting speed.

I think Larry Johnson, Sr. plans to stay, he's probably the key to their DL recruiting. He also has a really good track record of talent development, just look at Tamba Hali, Devon Still, Courtney Brown and Jared Odrick to name a few.

I remember when Courtney brown had his eye nearly taken out when the referee threw a penalty flag right in it.

ESPN saying O'Brien will likely have a deal done within 48 hours. We need to close with Holley.
