Natrona County's Taven Bryan has decided to play for football powerhouse Florida.

The incoming senior, one of the top-rated Wyoming recruits in history, made his decision late Monday. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound defensive lineman had scholarship offers from Oregon, Nebraska, Wyoming and many others.

"It just fit me," Bryan said of Florida.

Bryan, a three-star recruit by Rivals.com, has the ability to play numerous positions. Some schools believe he can play defensive end, defensive tackle, tight end or left tackle at the college level.

He said that Florida projects him to defensive end or tight end.

"I like them both," Bryan said.

Bryan has visited the Florida campus in Gainesville, Fla. He said he plans to major in biomedical engineering.

"It is just nice there," he said of the visit.

While Bryan will not sign a letter of intent until February, he said it made little sense to hold off from making his decision.

"It was just a good fit for me, and coaches' times are very valuable," he said.

Anyone worried about making a transition to the SEC given the level of competition he's faced? Seriously why are we taking 3-stars from Wyoming.

Did you watch the film? What dont you like about him? Not saying you have to agree with the staff just want to know.

Also if Brad Lawing signs off on a player then that is all I need to know. I might question a few of our coaches player evaluations but not the best DLine coach in the SEC.

I like it! Looks like one of those corn fed midwesterners Nebraska used to dominate with.

OL is probably the hardest position to project. Trust the coaches, they know a hell of alot more about what to look for in a prospect then some recruiting service.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Antonio Morrison a 3 star last year? I think we'd all agree he should have been a 5 star. Obviously, I'm not saying Bryan should be a 5 star, just that our coaches have a track record of knowing talent when they see it regardless of what the recruiting services say.

On a related note: Expect Bryan to get an Ohio State offer in 3...2...1.

I wonder how much the so called experts get into Wyoming to assess players.

Wouldn't surprise me if he isn't boosted to 4 star by the fall.

    Definitely looks the part!!!

6'-5" 250lbs. is the same no matter what state you're from. I don't think playing against weaker competition in HS means you won't be able to play SEC-calibur competition necessarily. I think it just means there might bea longer transition period than someone from S.Fla.

He camped at Florida and earned an offer from our coaches. I really don't see how anyone could question that.

From his highlights, he looks the part but needs a lot of work on his technique. Seemed a little stiff in his upper body, but he seems athletic enough that it shouldn't be a problem once we get him on campus and under Lawing's wing.

If he is recruited as a DE/TE how will that play with Bo Scarborough's team mate who was supposed to be the only TE recruited this round? Taven ought to be listed as DE in order not to create fodder for our recruiting rivals...that Atlanta rb's allegations of coaches lying still sting even though the liar was the rb.

    1. Our first player from Wyoming?

    2. Biomedical engineering? Wow!

    3. "It was just a good fit for me, and coaches' times are very valuable," he said. I translate that to: I might as well commit now and free up the coaches to spend time on others guys. What a refreshing attitude!
