Why do we need receivers "NOW"? Will any of these guys help us immediately? It is far more likely that last year's freshmen class takes a big step in the new offense than that incoming freshman make the difference. You think any of your longed for freshman Plan As are going to turn around 4-8? That's not how college football works. Outside of your Percy Harvins, not many freshmen are going to change the game.

I would take mckenzie over lauderdale anyways..and we have mad wr's i dont think we need that much help now. We still might get adoree Jackson who's playing WR but yeah fullwood, robinson, debose, dunbar, andrades, bailey, sousa, thompson and I know I'm missing a few

I'd love to get Adoree, but It looks like SC has the advantage at this point. However, if we get the last OV... that changes everything, IMHO.

that would suck. I would probably be more upset about not getting adoree then I was when we lost Dalvin to the university of florida state

Me too. Adoree is a special kind of talent... You can't teach his kind of speed.

I am pretty sure Lauderdale would help us immediately if we could land him. Maybe not from a big play perspective, but just doing everything else a receiver needs to do, including blocking and being a go to 3rd down and red zone target.

Adoree and Mackenzie have big play capability. How rapidly they learn the offense and adjust to the speed of the game at this level is tough to call, but I think either of them could become contributors quickly.

I'm sure they'll have no problem with the speed aspect, but you're right in that they'll need adjustment time to the college game/plays/routes/schemes.

Well... I don't mean their speed - they're plenty fast.

The speed of the game around them in college is going to be much faster and it will take some adjustment period to mentally get comfortable with it, relax and just play.

Kinda like advancing to a higher level in a video game where things are happening a lot faster and you don't think you can handle it at first, but once you get used to it, the game "slows down", and you play more relaxed and effectively a lot faster.

Now, Adoree has this look about him like everything's just happening in slow speed as he plays and just glides by people. He really plays within himself, while still playing fast. I think he'll make that jump pretty quickly.

Also could depend on what role they have them in. Slot receiver is going to see more traffic in his routes and probably be involved in the run game more, and need time to adjust. Putting a guy out wide with a limited set of routes that keep him mostly wide and deep will simplify what he sees and should allow him to adjust quickly.

Well I imagine part of that is because a bad year means you need flips from lesser schools like USF

Our recent flips have been four and five star guys from Penn State, Miami and Arizona, with the exception of Porter, who could well be a four star if he played a position in HS that he was projected to play in college. Kid is a very good athlete.

Miami, top-15 DT from Penn St., Louisville, top-5 corner from Arizona...lots of duds in that mix.

All very good points but this is what matters to me: he loves the gators and if a player's heart isn't in it, he'll never reach his full potential. Half the battle is won already.

I missed the part where I said they were duds; obviously way too sensitive. If you mean Powell for Miami, that was because Cook fell out, the which is the kind of thing I was talking about.

Where do you all think Porter plays... or what positions can he play?
