For whatever reason, whenever his name came up, I wasn't paying attention. When it looked like he was a likely commit this weekend, I told myself "Plan B." Now I'm paying attention. This kid is a thoroughbred. His passing numbers over the last two seasons are outstanding. His rushing yardage this season was even better than Grier's. He's got great grades, great wheels. Wouldn't rule him out for QB or WR. Too we're too deep at CB and he's on the tall side. I like him at safety. Nobody's better at anticipating what the offense is up to than a QB in center field on defense.

30 pounds lighter, faster and is a real threat to complete a pass. Don't think we'll see him at TE, HB or FB.

If you re planning on hunh then you almost have to have a dual threat. Grier, Porter , maybe Harris competition only gonna make things better. At least with Porter if qb doesn't work out he can play several other spots.

Seems like we have more flips this year than I remember in a long time. Clearly, our bad year didn't spell recruiting doom

He's not on campus yet. 30# is easy to do with the right weight room/coach and training table.

No issue with his size. Was just making the point that he's not another Trey Burton. Not sure where he fits, but I hope they don't try to put 30 pounds on him.

After watching the film, Dioandre Porter reminds me of what Loucheiz Purifoy looked like when he played for Pensacola Pine Forest where he also played QB. Maybe he's our next two way player, three way if you count special teams?

Can't argue with bringing in more speed to the team since it's something we've been lacking--especially on the offense. Supposedly this was a guy Roper wanted directly...and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Lord knows he's done more with 2 and 3 star recruits than most coaches.

Still waiting for Purifoy to play offense. Don't think that's going to happen in the NFL.

Lot of great Gator players were QBs in high school. Not many had the numbers this kid had. Unless his height has been exaggerated, he looks like a legit backup QB. Still haven't seen 40 yard dash or sprint numbers for him, but if he is a serious competitor in the 100m in Florida, he's got real speed.

This was one of my "gem" guys before the recruiting season really took off. I just love the way he plays, and he definitely has all of the physical tools. He won't play QB for us, but he's got a better arm than the likes of Denard Robinson and other speed first QB's. Wouldn't be surprised if we see him in some Wildcat somewhere down the line.

Doubt it would matter too much for either. I think the only guy it was going to possible effect was Treon Harris, who plays almost an identical role as Porter. Word on the street is that it didn't matter to either of them (Porter or Harris).

Porter's top end is probably similar to Burton, but he appears to accelerate faster, and come out of cuts faster And fwiw, Burton tested 4.81 in HS at the 2009 Army combine, and Driskel tested the exact same 4.81 at that combine. Grier comes in at 4.73 in the 40.

While a legit 4.67 doesn't sound fast in a world of exaggerated times, it's not that bad. Porter's football speed looks very good.

I think it has more to do with recognizing talent, no matter the "stars", that fits your scheme than it does with coaching up lesser talent. Just because some service labels you as a 2 star player doesn't mean you are a 2 star player. I would put more faith in Ropers judgement over some recruiting service.

Looks like a QB that can get it done to me. Let's let coach roper decide where he plays. He might start out at receiver and when driskell gets injured (like the last two seasons) then we move to a shake and bake QB that keeps defenses guessing. Duke used this formula to great success.

Perhaps a true wildcat QB when he isn't playing in the slot?

Good news. Based on his comments he seems to want to work and earn his PT. I'll take losing divas and picking up hard workers all day.
