Congrats to Davidson Day (N.C.) QB Will Grier (@willg7533), the 10th QB officially invited to the @Elite11 finals/@TheOpening_2013 #GOTOPEN

I dont even remember him competing at an elite 11 event.

The elite 11 and the opening are the same weekend so he will be able to recruit while there

He didn't sound too excited. Lol almost sounded like he didn't care. No enthusiasm in his voice at all. Not really a big deal, just a small (probably wrong) observation.

He sounded pretty grateful to me. He said thanks several times. There's only so much that can come through on a phone call. I would've thought it was strange if he started hooting and hollering.

It might be a better predictor of NFL potential than collegiate ability. I remember Matthew Stafford beating Tebow for the top spot back in '05.

Didn't Driskel win the elite 11 MVP?

I think he did. That was a down year for QBs, plus Driskel's skills set is ideal for a competition like that. He's quick at dropping back, has a quick release, high velocity and excellent accuracy. Unless I'm mistaken, the Elite 11 doesn't put much emphasis on eluding pass rushers.

Don't know much about Grier, except he's throws a nice long ball, has good pocket awareness and needs to gain a lot of weight.

Power Ranking the Top 10 Quarterbacks in the 2014 Recruiting Class

    #4. Will Grier, Pro-Style QB

    Height: 6'3''

    Weight: 180 pounds

    Hometown: Davidson, N.C.

    School: Davidson Day School

    Ranking: 4-star

    Committed to Florida on 12/19/12

Will Grier is not a dual-threat quarterback, but he's elusive for a pocket passer.

He has a strong arm, excellent touch and above-average accuracy. He can be the prototypical pocket-passer, but he also has great agility and athleticism and excels when moving around.

He's the type of quarterback who can bootleg, make a throw on the run or decide to take off and pick up yards with his feet. He also has a feel for pressure and possesses escapability.

Grier doesn't have the pure arm strength or size of the No. 1 quarterback on this list, but he has just as much potential—especially if he bulks up.

People downplay his arm strength, but his touch on his passes are unreal. Those back corner endzone passes look exactly like Danny's.

    For someone in the know,

If there is a shake up in OC responsibilities/duties like some are envisioning, is Will still a solid commit?

Grier may be the most solid of our commits. No, only way I see him leaving is if pease and champ leave and he still might not leave
